Oregon 20 BPX ?

I have been cutting a bunch of silver Maple with my Husky 346. Some of it is a bit dirty from being drug out of the way with a dozer. I have been cutting this up with Oregon 20 LPX. It actually dont do bad. But I was wandering how 20 BPX chain is being semi chisel? Is it worth putting on my saw or is it best left alone? Thanks in advance Rob

Will hold an edge longer than the "LP" chain.

I use semi chisel almost exclusively for firewood. I get much longer chain life and easier to sharpen.

20BPX is good stuff!

I really like the 20BPX on my Poulan 2775, it cuts very well. I've tried to make the 33SL safety chisel that came with it work, but it just doesn't cut worth a darn. The 20BPX just gets it done. I figured the 33SL would work on this, as it was clean fresh wood, but it was slow even with the bumpers cut way down.

My LPX touched a rock the other day. It kinda looks like BPX now and will until after a few more sharpenings get it back the the square part. LOL
I may go to BPX also. LPX is awesome when it's fresh, but you need to keep it fresh to really get the benefit of that corner. I try to touch up after every tank. That's not always practical.

BPX is a good chain. For some reason too many people think that semi-chisel chain means "homeowner" chain. It's a tough sell around here, but the few people I can talk into it come back and say they love it.

To do the financial figures, I doubt your job would pay out and justify buying the semi chisel just for this one job.

I would however, consider buy the BPX in the future for a replacement of worn out chisel chains?

I want to put the BPX as a permanant firewood cutting chain. That is what I intend to use the silver maple for. I cut it, to open up a spot in the Flagstone quarry I work at. I cut alot of firewood and sometimes get into dirty wood. I was fishing to see if BPX would make a good LPX replacement. I not concerned too much with the slower cutting speed of the semi chisel.
