How many of you have free natural gas and still burn wood to heat with solely? I have free unlimited usage, but still burn in a heatilator fireplace for fun and letting kids roast mellows from time to time.

Natural gas drilling isn't real popular in my area (Northeast) until just recently. Fracking has come to PA and people report all sorts of ground water/well problems. Just curious how it has worked out for you.

....tons of fracking 'round here and not a single complaint I can think of (from people I personally know). They are provided with a very extensive water test before they start....then provide the same exact test afterwards. In all cases (family and friends), there have been no issues.

I can't sort out the wheat from the chaff on the arguments (by both sides) about fracking.

What I do know is on another board an old well driller commented one night he had to go back the next day to pump concrete down a new well to seal off the gas leak.

Asked him if it was from fracking and he said no, he just screwed up. Tried getting a few more feet of depth out of the well to give the folks a bit better flow and broke into a gas layer, which isn't all that unusual in his area of Pennsyltucky since the beginning of well drilling.

Thought that said a lot about how it's naturally already intertwined, undermining the arguments at the extremes of both the opponents and supporters.

The anti-fracking dimwits are out here in full force ! Not a peep the first 4 or 5 yrs. then the Sierra Club got the local left wing tree hugging sheeple all stirred up, sickening bunch of outsiders. None of the local born people seem to have a prob.,just the artsy tree huggy outsiders who have moved to the area.

I would still cut and burn wood.

However, I would figure out a way to run my truck on that free gas. :D

If I had free natural gas...EVERYTHING I owned would run on it. I'd have a natural gas powered generator providing my power. I'd have natural gas converted vehicles. If there was something I was spending money on, I'd figure out how to use natural gas to cover it if possible.

Cut and split wood to burn? Sure...IF the chainsaw and splitter were NG powered!

I'm with ya man!

But not in my chainsaws. :D

The day I signed the "free gas for life" contract all my firewood stuff would be for sale..

Firewooding is rewarding and great exercise but I wouldn't miss it one bit if I never did it again.

I know a family that has had drilling done on their property. Royalties must be starting to roll in. Just bought a new suv,
and they have an ad running that they are selling their OWB.

In this area the save the earth lunatics are now tying too connect fracking with earth quakes. Next week it will be bad breath or hangnails.
