The use of a chain sprocket 8-9 tooth?

Hi Guys,
Just a question here, for what purpose would you use a chain sprocket 8-9 tooth on an MS 660? I know it spins faster! :confused:
 
Cant racing

Mostly for relatively short bars/smaller wood on larger saws, and racing often fits in that category - but far from always...

Shorter pitch than common on a given saw is another use, as you need more teeth to get the same gearing.
