My 1st time to see a 395 and having oil pump troubles.

The oiler works but there is oil coming out from behind the pump also.
I have cleaned the pump, tank and the oil pickup that is in the tank.
The hose is in good shape and I have it seated right , I think, and I have made sure the hose between the pump & bar is clean.
When I take the pump back off to look it seems as oil is coming from the pump outlet going to the bar.

Nothing leaks when the chain is not going around.

Any guidance for the old man (me) would be appreciated.

Thanks

Bump for help.

my 395 had the exact same issue you desribed. it was leaking oil out the worm gear area. there must be seals in there or something. i replaced the oil pump with one off my parts saw and all is good now. not saying thats what's wrong with yours but that was what was wrong with mine. hard to diagnose without seeing it. i would hate to hear of you spending money on a new oil pump and it not fixing the problem just because of what i said. just saying cause it sounds like the exact same issue i had.

This is my first time with the 395 but have worked on many saws through the years. The saw came in as a real mess. A pro cutter and a new customer for me. One of 6 tree cutters and they are all using old motor oil /STP [ I couldn't believe it ] and commented to him. He said the company provided the oil/STP for them.
I flushed the whole system and put in new bar oil, Also cleaned the pump in the ultrasonic cleaner. The saw was a black mess. Did not have a pump to switch out or I would have tried it.

Clean the back of oil pump housing well during inspection. Ive seen pin holes in the pump casting itself from vibration.

I appreciate your post.
I gave him the saw because his back up was down and did not charge him. I did replace the plastic drive gear and there was a good flow of oil still getting to the 32" bar.
