Husqvarna 50 Oil Leak

My saw seems to have developed a serious oil leak. I noticed an excessive amount of oil flowing out onto the bar and chain while cutting and then when storing, it just continues to leak out until all of the bar oil is gone. Any ideas as what may be causing this? Thanks.

Plugged vent probably. It's a white tube in the front part of tank on the top if you look in tank. You'll see a hole in the front of bar plate. Blow it out.

After cutting,pull the bar and look where the oil is coming from. Is it coming from the vent? Is it coming from the normal oil hole? You might have a problem with the oil pickup line where it seals to the crankcase. This is a very simple design and should be easy to find. Take the oil cap off and see if it still leaks. If it stops with cap removed,you have a problem with the vent.

Also,the tank could have a leak. Look between the fuel tank and oil tank and see if there is any problem. I have seen the bolts that hold the top handle to lower fuel tank protrude through the hole and wear a hole in the bottom of crankcase. You may notice the bolts might be too long. If so,they can vibrate into the bottom of the tank and create a hole. How does the gasket look between the case halves? Could be loose case bolts allowing a small leak between case halves.
