I picked up a ms 660 magnum with a 36'' bar and a 25'' bar with extra chains. Paint still on both bars .Very nice shape! Saw is 3 yrs old bought from original owner. trying to decide if i should keep it or resale it. My other saws are an stihl 036 pro and a 025. I used ta burn wood now dont but enjoy cutting with my brothers who both burn wood and our Father too. Is it worth keeping the ms 660 and sale my 036 pro or will i be sad when its gone with a BIG saw and a SMALL saw left? Also whats a good price to have picked it up for? Any idea on weight of my 036 pro what is my 036 pro worth with its new 20'' bar saw also is very nice?

You may not use it a lot, but having a big saw in good running shape can come in REAL handy sometimes....regular cutting and for emergency use.

I definitely agree that having a bigger saw is a good thing when the occasion rises. I know myself get into a lot of situations where the big saw would make life a lot easier. All I use saws for is firewood, but when you have trees laying on the ground that are bigger then 30, 35, 40 inches a nice long bar will make life a he'll of a lot smoother

DON'T sell your 036 Pro to get an MS660. You would regret that as you will probably need or prefer to use the 036 about 10 times as much as the 660. If you need to sell a saw to get it, then I would recommend holding off until that decision isn't required. The 025 is a good limber, the 036 handles most of the felling and bucking and once in a while you would use the 660. If you are using the 660 to do 036 tasks, you will be thinking about the 036 a lot... my opinion.

Keep the 036 and 660. No need to get rid of it.

Where are you located? If you wanted to sell the 36" bar and chain give me a shout!

Keep it. When you find that tree that makes you wish you had more saw, you will thank me, plus they are not that heavy.

I agree. I'm pretty darn happy with my MS660. It was an impulse buy when I got it and I thought about turning it for some $$$$.

It has been used a LOT since and there ain't no way I'm getting rid of it now.

Keep the saw because you never know when you may need the extra grunt. It would also be nice to have around in case you get in a bind and need some quick money. Around here I could list a nice 660 for $550-$600 and it would be gone in a few days.

If you just have the "itch" for another saw then drop the 036 for a 044 or 046.

Hell ya! I went a long time trying to buck up larger trees, cutting from different sides, noodling the ends and busting chunks out, etc. Now I have two saws that can pull the chain on 36 inch bars..just SO much mo bettah...

keep it . you never know if you will need one that size but you got it just in case

Do you need the $$? Have you ran the 660? I say keep it . I have a ms 660 little use but its nice knowing its there if i need it. Also its a lot of fun to run i just have to make sure to give it respect it deserves. Hope you keep it. Watch this you ll get a job in a few months and you'll need it. :msp_biggrin:

I think i will just keep it!

thanks for all your advice. I think i will hang onto the ms 660 for now and see what she runs like. any mods i should do to it to help it perform?

Is this your frist 90cc saw? If so run it a bit and get used to the power. I am still getting used to mine. When you want more i would go with the factory dual port muffler . Part number 1122-140-0800 have fun and be safe
