Mid May. Wood stove lit, leaves on trees (Japanese Maple in background) and temps were in the 30s an hour ago

Temp across the East. 30s down to North Carolina. Freezing line at 5000' down to Virginia. Which is the furthest south in the entire northern hemisphere at the moment.

I really getting sick of mother nature. I sick of burning wood at this point but I refuse to turn on the gas and electric heat.

I have built a small fire in the OWB every nite since Friday, just enough to knock the chill off the house.

Nice, yeah, at this point in the year its just for the chill and not for constant heat. It does warm up to 60s during the day. Although yesterday didnt get past 50s. I lve the smell any day of the year. :)

Less than 1/4 of the U.S corn crops are planted. 5 yr average is 64% should be planted by now.

Im wondering if people thought the "warming" would be sustained like it was in recent years. lol. After all, to get our "average" we need to do the total opposite of what was happening. So we're paying for it for all those torch days in the winter and summer seasons we had.

One model showing Highs of 50s next week. June is in 2 weeks, I agree this is pretty crazy...but interesting.

One last stat... 12,000 cold and snow records broken in the U.S in just 6 weeks. :msp_confused:

Been chilly last 5 days or so going to be 70+ next few days. Stove is in the on again off again mode. Main drag on planting here is how wet everything still is from April rains. some fields are just to wet for equipment. Difficulty now will be that with warm weather may come more rain compounding the problem. My back area is still about 2" deep in water due to the solid clay base and the run off entering that area has not stopped yet although substantially reduced from a couple weeks ago.
The Fox family is back with another brood ,see avitar.

I had to lite mine last night too, it was 66 in the house.

Wood-burning sure is gettin' old for me this year. That 34 degree temp on your map, right next to the "middle finger" (seneca lake) of the finger lakes in NY, is right on top of my house. It was 30 degrees here just before sunrise. I hope the fruit trees are ok.

I always like burning wood but this kind of weather plays hell on the garden. I have about 400 plants in the ground that I started from seed back in mid march. We got hit with a frost last night but I don't think it did much damage. Time will tell I guess.

The SheWolf says Mother Nature's clock is running behind. We've been burning the last few nights, seems these cool nights wannna hang around. The days have been nice but nighttime temps aren't spring-like at all.

Most of the fields around here are planted. I planted my garden seeds last weekend but am holding off on the seedlings. Mater and pepper plants are thriving indoors so far. I've gotta get 'em planted soon.

When I got out of bed around 4:00 this morning, the temps outdoors was 32. It was 62 inside the house. That's a bit chilly but it makes for easy running. I run approx. 2 1/2 miles every morning before going to work (my body dictates the distance of the run) and it was a perfect temp for it. I was sweating bullets when I got done running. You should have seen the people look at me when I arrived on campus on my motorcycle at 6:45am. I guess they've never seen a motorcycle before. :) Or, someone stupid enough to ride when the temps are just above freezing. :msp_wink:

Those in the center part of the country will wonder why I'm ready to light the stove again during the day right now. Struggling past 50s Mid May is nice but sure feels cold.

I just splt some wood which is perfect weather for and left doors and windows open. Inside is down to 58 now. LOL. We should be near 70 this time of year.

Current temps. You can find me on facebook or twitter if you want. I'm a big weathernut.

Had to scrape ice off the windshield the last two mornings. Owb is still going, but I'm running seriously low on dry, seasoned wood.

Yup, OWB is still goin here. I cut "one more load" of stuff laying around last weekend, I've said that a few times already this spring

Damn it's hot :jester:, 4:00 PM, 95[sup]o[/sup], 23% humidity... no need for a fire here :D

(This is fun...)

Meh, it's 70 here now. You can keep that 90's crap in May, OWB will burn for a couple more weeks making FREE hot water at the least, now that's fun
