All you guys just made me throw some hard wood into the stove.....sympathy burn!

Although supposed to get mid 20s tonight, that's cold enough for us down here, thanks....

4 this AM when I went to the woods, allegedly my thermometer says it made 20 here today, but I don't believe it. Opening day of deer season here, missed what should have been an easy shot this morning, but got busted trying to get my gun on him and wound up shooting at a low flying missile.

It's back down to 8 here now, and I don't doubt it'll be negative numbers by morning. Think I'll take my buddy up on his offer to hang out in one of his heated ground blinds.

Burning elm tonight, I'll save the oak for when it gets cold...

Hey Spidey how you liking the daka compared to old furnace, not stovace

There was laughter involved. Not my laughter...

Dang deer wasn't supposed to be coming from behind me. If I'd just let him keep walking, in 20 more yards he'd of been in front of me and never knew what hit him. Live and learn.

Spent a good portion of the day gathering and stockpiling wood for Grandpas boiler and wood for Dads furnace. Also cut some standing dead elm and cherry for my stove. I think it hit 17 here today and out of the wind it felt pretty decent.
Supposed to be around 5 degrees tonight and thats plenty cold for this time of year. The Pacific Energy is putting out beautiful heat and you would never know its cold outside.
LOVE the wood heat and sitting around it enjoying the benefits of a solid day of work!

Same thing happened to me, only it was the big momma I'd been teased by all archery season. I popped her kid (would've let kiddo live had I known it was hers and she was following), then she came up and I got busted switching sides of the tree from looking over my right shoulder to going to my left with the rifle swinging around. Almost got the muzzle on her when she blew and bolted back down the hill.

I still have my archery tag, so next week it's on again.

The Used Dog and I went for a walk in the woods. Since it was sunny and above 40, I wore shorts. That's summer like. We hit a high of 54 and the wind had a warm feel to it. Unusual, but don't move here.

Its cold and windy in ne Ohio but my house and outbuilding are nice and toasty because of the fruits of my labors. Cutting and burning a renewable source of energy is so rewarding. The toys(chainsaws) don't hurt either

Yeah, it was chilly up here too. We hit a balmy 17F according to my truck but it was windy so it felt much colder. Monday it's supposed to hit 35 again. I'll believe it when I see it.

Feels like temp this morning is -3. Nice and toasty in the house. The horses are in the barn with the doors closed. They generate a lot of heat themselves. As long as they are out of the wind they can tolerate some pretty cold temps. Same with the chickens.

The word for today is perspective. Are you talking about Celsius, Fahrenheit, or Kelvin? 1degree in Kelvin is -457.87F but only -272.15C. It may make it seem warmer if you think about it as 256 degrees outside since 1F = 256 K. Personally I don't mind the cold as much as I dislike moisture or wind. I would take a cold dry sunny zero degree Fahrenheit day to a 33F wet windy day in a heart beat.

It's 25 degrees and gusting around 20mph now. I came in to warmup and load the stove. I will head back out in a few to continue moving more wood next tot the house.

I think you have a math error. 1 degree F = -17 degrees C. Turns out the sky is ~77K, still cold as the dickens but not absolute zero.

We've had >20 mph winds all day with some lake effect snow. Wasn't expecting any accumulation but we got about 1.5".

Looking at some of these numbers just makes me cold! We are expecting a low of 24 on Wed. night...that's probably as cold as we will get down here with the front. At least Thanksgiving will feel like it should...cool.
