Best Earmuffs

Looking to buy a new pair of earmuffs, just wondering what ones are the best to buy?

IDK about best, but my favorite of the ones I own are some Smith and Wesson 29db(?). Had them 5 years and they perform well

Haven't found any that don't cut the noise down enough. Given that, the best to me have the best combination of price & comfort.

OTOH, there are very effective ear plugs, and they don't smack into head-height obstacles, yanking them off your head.

I bought a box of LaserLite ear plugs off amazon for $25/200 pair, I think. 24 to 32db noise reduction depending on frequency (32db at 2khz) and comfortable enough to wear all day. You can get them with or without cord as well.

I bought about 6 pairs of ear muffs from harbor freight the cheapest ones they had. I keep them every where that way I never forget them and there is at least one pair around.

Not only do they cut down on the noise but they help keep my hat on with windy days and keep my ears warm on cold days.

I also have el cheapos and expensive ones. The elcheapos have recieved a tuning by me by adding some more foam, that I had lying around, in side the muffs. Is a nice improvement. I do it similar like 3000 as having a bunch around so that there is always a pair handy.

I have several pair of the yellow Peltor muffs. They get hot in the warmer months but other than that I like them. About $20 pair I think

I can't stand earmuffs especially in the summer, they make my ears flood with sweat.

yup so i prefer these work well about 23 to 25Db reduction good for 1 to 2 or hours daily saw work comfy and always with you as sit happily around you neck when not in use necklace ear plugs

Peltor WorkTunes by 3M....its work, why not listen to music? I use to go crazy if I had to mow for more than an our or so. Now I can mow or cut all day.

I second the 3M Worktunes if your not wearing a hardhat. I have a pair of the yellow 3M Tekk ones and they are 24 dB reduction, I see the grey 3M Peltor pair are more money and they are 26 db redution but at almost twice the price... not sure why. Keep a pair of cheap inner ear plugs handy incase you get tired of wearing them though, after about 3-4 hours of earing them with safety glasses you'll want a break from them.

100% agree. I tend to not where my safety glasses as much as I should.

I use the Bose sound blocking ear muffs that are designed to listen to an ipod. I usually don't listen to music while sawing but do in between cutting.

Used to get the peltor muffs for the asking at work.When you are exposed to jet aircraft engines runing at high power for sometimes hours on end you need somthing effective to save your hearing.Same for runing a chainsaw.I finally smashed the last pair of peltor muffs I had last summer.Bought a pair of J/RED muffs at TSC and find them to be as effective as any others I've used.Cost is much higher than the freebees I used to get from the safety office at work though!

I have tried a bunch over the years and so far, the best and most comfortable ones are the built in ones on my husky helmet. They are the only muffs I ever tried that fit comfortably over my eyeglass frames. They seem to do a good job about knocking out the high frequency saw noise, but you can still hear human speech and lower toned engine noise, like the tractor.

Hmm, specs, have to look... it says 25db on their site

FYI the Laser Lights may be available at Walgreens as Leight Sleepers. 32 db NR. In the ear plugs. Great when you are camping with 700 cyclists and a few are loud snorers.
