This will be my first AT port jobs I have done. I've been a chicken when it comes to 2 saws. The 562xp and the ms261. Lol. Well I guess you can learn unless you do. So I'm going to attempt to do a build thread. I want to appoligies in advance because I am slow so this will be a drawn out thread. I also ask for any input and does and do not on this saw. I love learning new things and hope this thread will help the next guy.

20141119_153418.jpg Ok so I have bout a pair of these saws to port and compare. The 1st is a 2011 it's wearing an el44. The 2nd is a 2013 and I have not tore into it yet but it has the dreaded 562xp bog. The 2011 starts and runs awesome. The 2013 supposedly had the carb update but it bogs when sitting and it's very hard to start but runs awesome when warm. Both saws cut identical. Both have been timed. So that being said I will use it as my stock comparison saw and port the 2011.

Here we go. Here are my stock numbers. Squish is .024, intake is 73°, ex is 103°, trans are 115°.

My plans for numbers are .040 off of squish band, reset squish to .025, intake will be whatever lowering it creates. 102° exhaust, retain the 12° blow down, widen the trans, and exhaust. Square up the intake but little to no work on it.

20141204_162412.jpg I got a jump start. Lmao. I ditched the gasket which measured .030 not squeezing the calipers. So I cut .040 from squish and .015" from base. Squish ended up a little tighter than I like it's at .021" I will cut .003" more off tomorrow.

20141204_162339.jpg I've heard terry and Randy both say sometimes less is better on the AT saws so I'm keeping that in mind as I go. Here I raised the lower skirts .040" to make up for what I lowered the jug. I also raised the skirt cut out .060". .040 for what I lowered it and then raised it and additional .020". I did not widen it at all

20141204_162420.jpg 20141204_162429.jpg Here I smoothed up the humps in the trans. They are just roughed in. I will go back and polish them smoother later.

20141204_162441.jpg 20141204_162437.jpg And the same here. I will smooth it out and polish a little more but you can see where I rounded the corners to smooth up the flow.

Here I messed up. I started to grind and realized I need a pic. I widen very slowly. So I will remark this a couple of times. I push the ring up in the cylinder with my degree wheel to seat my height. It's marked at 102° right now. And the side will defiantly go wider than the marks bur like I said I work up to this. I will prob widen to between .080 and .100 from the skirt sides. And this is were I'm done for the night. Lol. Hopefully I can get time to work on it tomorrow past just raising the squish a little more.
