First let me apologize for posting chainsaw questions on the Homeowner site. That said, I'm replacing my 34 year old pro mac 610. I only cut about a cord a year and burn for pleasure not heat so with the help of the AS members I had settled on a new Husky 555 from my local dealer for $600 out the door. Now he says he has to order it and I'll have to wait a week but he has a new 562XP that he can sell me for $50 bucks more. Please tell me I'd be nuts to pass that up. Has a 20 inch bar with 3/8 . 050 chain and 2 year warranty.

Toss up. $650 is a good price for the 562, but $600 seems a little high for the 555.
But only $50 more, I'd likely take the XP...

Either way you're talking a lot of money and a lot of saw for 1 cord/year. That's what, a tank and a half of fuel/year to make that happen?

Me, if presented with those choices, I'd go with the 555 and save the money AND not have a half-silver saw.
The 555 is a very nice running saw, right out of the box.

The 555 can be bought for $500 and the 562 for $600, PHO.
Plus shipping...
And hw would still need to buy a good quality bar and chain, which should cost at least $50.

Ends up pretty close, and he is supporting his local dealer for any support, warranty work, etc.
