get an echo CS 590
Everybody should own an Echo 590. Love mine. However the 490 is much lighter.
Today I bucked oak using a Sthil 029 and an Echo 352, 16 inch bar. Cut almost all way through the log with a 24 inch bar on the Sthil then Rolled the log and unzipped with the 352.
If I were to own only 1 saw I'd own the Echo 490. It's light, agile and that 20 inch bar will cut most trees left on my farm. Back in the day the 590 with 28 inch bar was barely big enough but got the job done. However my 590 with big bar and professional chain weighs just over 19 pounds according to the bathroom scales at my shop. The 490 with 20 inch bar just over 14 pounds. Holding a big saw up cutting the face knotch, at times higher than you'd prefer, in thickets after you are already tired can be a bear. I use my 590 a lot less these days.
I may be lazy. I work for myself and don't want to get in a hurry so my thinking is, to use the lightest saw I can that gets the job done at a reasonable speed. I've used the cs310, cs352, cs490 and cs590. My opinion is the cs310 is half as good as the cs352 so I sold mine. I've never used a cs 400 so have no idea. I think Echo saws are good. Their Lipo Battery saw is getting bashed by some reviews because it has 2 bar nuts instead of that big knob. I bought a Works corded for my Grandson. It has that big knob and I think thats a Hassel when flipping the bar over. Give me a chainsaw with bar nuts. If I were buying a battery chainsaw, I'd be Echo. There's a lot of information in this post. It's my opinion. Yours may differ. Hope you can use part if not all. Good day.
