What is the smaller tygon sizes used on the smaller saws and weedwackers? I am looking to purchase some off the bay but am not sure on the smaller sizes.

i would be searching another source if i was you. tygon is garbage and doesn't come in exact OE sized. either have to force it in the tank or drill the tank to fit the tygon snugly. put a piece of tygon in a saw, fuel it up with non ethanol fuel, then go check what the tygon did in a couple weeks. seeing what it does with good fuel, it's almost scary to think what it would do exposed to ethanol.

2 and 3 MM right?

tygon don't measure in metric. you either have to suffer with to small or to big. i had to fight to find a source of fuel line. i got my buddy who runs a lordco autoparts here to find and order some line that is exact to OEM. i don't have any here at the moment but i am going to get some more soon. i don't need it often as it lasts longer then most saws live LOL. i suggest doing some homework and finding something better for the job then tygon. hutzle sell AM husky lines that are even curly like OEM. i've had much better lucky with that stuff then tygon.

John, I'll answer your question.

If your talking that really small line like on the small newer Poulan and stuff, I think your wanting .080x.140

.080 x .140 line is what poulan, weed eater, craftsman use on the supply side. Briggs and Stratton # 695542
3/32 x 3/16 is the return side on those same trimmers/saws.

the newer line that is resistant to ethanol is 3 times more expensive and doesnt seem to last longer. the inner liner shrivels up and cuts off the fuel supply but yet still looks and feels good from the outside. Tygon is the way to go but remember anything made after 2012 needs the fancy low permeation line or the EPA will come after you

I've never heard of Tygon being bad. We use it often in the shop.

i've literally had a saw sit for a month and not start cause the inside of the line turned gummy sucking up and plugging the carb. just out a piece of tygon in fuel for a month and then go check it out. turned into a slimy mess. i mean it's still intact but that slimyness actually plugs the line on the inside. i stopped using it years ago. the hack here who burn 4 tanks a year especially wanna use a good quality line LOL would suck to have to replace a fuel line everytime you go use your saw. tygon is NOT the way to go. there is better fuel hose available if you look.

The EPA approved fuel hose for boats has an inner liner that collapses, turns to goo, etc then clogs system or impedes fuel flow.
It will do this with ethanol and over a few years with real gas.
It is ethanol resistant not ethanol proof.

How much fuel escapes thru the walls of a fuel line?
The EPA fixed a problem that did not exist until they fixed our gas!!!

l have a feeling that a lot of 'tygon' sold on the interwebs is chinese copy and not in fact really tygon. l have had similar experience to westcoaster and find their lines not equal diameter to OEM. They can be made to work but its always alittle big or small. l bought it after many on here recommended it but l am not sure if its really tygon at all.....more like rebadged fish tank air line.

Caveat and Disclosure - I sell the product I am about to comment on , self interest blah blah blah

The newer 30% resistant fuel line from Oregon is nice. After a discussion on another forum, I brought in rolls of the 5 most common sizes and guys really seem to like it.
We took a 1 gallon can and got a gallon of 89 octane, added a bottle of Stihl ultra, shook it up and then waited a half hour and used the Stihl ethanol tester - the result a smidgen over 15% - that is from a pump labeled as max 10% which is regulated by the same law that makes us use ethanol to start with. Since Tygon is rated for 10% (and in some cases 15%) ehtanol MAX, it seems to make sense to spend more (yeah it is about three times as much but we aren't talking about a big ticket item here) to have something a little more reliable. Check with your local Oregon dealer, the real stuff is labeled Oregon and is bright yellow, unfortunately the aftermarket bulk stuff is also yellow, but when we tested it in a jar of mix fuel and a jar of straight gas it got gooey and kinda sticky in less than 3 weeks.
The 30% resistant line comes in a pretty decent selection of sizes (17 of them).

Just my .02
Dave

Look it up...tygon is a family of plastics , tygon is a registered trademark of Saint-Gobain Corporation .
"The chemical resistance and physical properties vary among the different formulations"
I would NOT rely on any statements, good or bad, without know WHICH tygon they refer to.... I see none of that in the above statements

I buy only tygon 4040 blend and have been for over 15 years and it works for me

Thanks Dave,
I have 3 rolls of Oregon 30% coming in, 1/8, 3/16, and 1/4

i tried 1 roll of the oregon 30% stuff and threw it away after only doing a few trimmers with it. i will continue using the Tygon(4040) that i have been using. Stens has some new stuff out that i havent tried though. Any thoughts on this stuff?
