Just looking for some advice. I do a handful of jobs a year kinda as a hobby to gain wood for the stove.
I picked up some used gear a few years back and never really "tuned" it to me. My question is do my spurs look to be in the proper position on my leg, height wise? And do I have them assembled properly? I did add new pads when I got them and they are fairly comfortable but seem to dig into my shins pretty bad and tend to role around on my legs.
Any help would be great as I don't have anyone to turn to for these questions. I'm not against getting a different set of spurs either if it means being a lot more comfortable in the tree.

Thanks Woody

Hard to tell, but they could be a bit higher (in the first pic they look a little low from the knee). But only you can determine comfort.

How do the points/tips look? Sharp? Any chips or dinks? Angled right?

IMO I would ditch those pads if they are digging and rolling around on your leg. You should try some Weaver Super climber pads, the have 2 upper straps and they fell a lot more comfortable. Just a suggestion. I always size my gaffs 2 finger lengths under the knee.

I hate all leather pads. Havent messed with them in 15 years lol. Pads need yo have a cuff in them (aluminum, steel, fiberglass, etc). If it doesnt have a cuff, you killin yourself for no reason.

I 3rd the Weaver super pads. And get a wrap on the bottom if they're twisting. Also get them pretty tight. As tight as you can go without hurting too much. Taller climbing boots will help. They will take most of the pad off your leg and let you go tighter. Don't lean way back while on them. Straighter is better but not too straight. Then they will try to gaff out more.

God just lookin at those pics made my shins hurt!

But yu ain't doin it for a livin so I'll butt out......kick out......slide on outta here!

Get some spur stays with steel inserts n you'll think you've died n gone to heaven......

Ain't climbed a tree recreationally since I was 13.......
