Well Dan obviously isn't porting any more saws.....I've asked what is the problem with recreating a monster ? neither is brad I've also asked. don't let this knowledge go to waste whom ever buys this.

Where's the fun in looking at the answer key fellas? I have another 346 Dan did for me that I run quite a bit. When I first got it I was tempted to tear it down and see what he did. Didn't feel right though because I know what he did...ground on some ports and machined some stuff, on a lot of saws to figure out what works. I personally have more fun building a saw and comparing it to his and see how it stacks up. I have a 350 with a 353 piston that I ported myself and it is not far off pace with his. Certainly more proud of this saw than if I woulda just copied his work and it ran just like it. Guarantee you if I put one together that smokes Dans saw, I'll be really proud of that one.

Huh? I just saw AJ pick up 3, freshly ported Dan Henry saws a few weeks ago, this being one...
And 200% agree with the " @ his request" comment. If ya have met and know Dan, you'd get it.
I said this saw was done recently in the original post. Idk exactly when he did it, as I dropped them off almost a year ago. I did tell him no hurry lol. Dan is still doing stuff. Not as much or as quickly as he used to but he's still grinding some. Mostly he doesn't want to deal with internet and shipping so he's basically only doing stuff for locals.

I didn't have this saw ported with the intent to sell it. I love the one I have enough that I wanted a spare. My financial situation is not as comfy as it used to be so I'm trying to trim some fat.

The "at his request part" is different that is why.

Oh dear, this is where this thread is going? I port saws, but after doing a bunch of them, I know enough to know that others are better than me. I'm not interested in stealing Dan's secrets, but once a saw is monkeyed with, and it leaves the porters hands, there really is no more secret. anyone can pull a jug and look....make a few measurements etc. the point is not to personally gain from secrets, but to further discussions on what makes saws better. It is my understanding that dans saws are something special... would be nice to know why. I know why Brad's 346 was faster than mine... because I took it apart. I'll tell ya, i'm gonna have a hard time replicating what he did. So I may not bother trying.... next time I may just send the cylinder to him :)

Honestly, I believe keeping secrets as builders is silly. The ONLY case where it makes sense is if you are going to keep the saw in your possession permanently. As soon as a saw leaves a builder the cat is out of the bag. Yet, that is the whole point. When people know what amazing work/ grinding you do, I believe that garners more business, not theft.

If Dan is still porting saws, I do get is that you'd want his permission before you post his numbers or whatever on an open forum, but honestly believe that it'd be silly of Dan to hold information back... pointless really.

back to your regularly scheduled programming ... best of luck to the OP
