Any one builds Huztl / Farmertec 372's?

It's epic. It's just getting better and better, it pulls better than the old Stihl 044 and the farmer tec ms 440. It does take a bit of warming up but that's ok it's winter here.
The holtsforma bar can go on an old saw cause I don't like it at all, but this saw is going to get a good bar, 24" Sugi hara or a powermatch maybe?
So, when I build another one, should I build a big bore?

What don't you like about the Holzfforma bar? I just tried their 28 inch bar on my 660. It is heavy and it seems to flex some but I have only used 20 inch bars before.

The 25" ones are both very sloppy in the groove and flex too much. They were early ones though and they might be better now. I'm going to try closing up the slot on one and see how that goes.
I'm using 063 chain and every one I've tried flops around in the bar, so if you let the chain pull into the wood instead of pushing, it cuts in curves like with a worn out bar. It is manageable and the price is awesome so for stumps or clean ing up dirty wood they are great just not a patch on a Sugi hara (yet)

You're right about the groove being to wide. I'm using a 0.063 chain too. I guess I've grown accustomed to my other worn out bars???

I found if I get the pressure just right and keep the chain really sharp it's manageable. Hopefully with feedback there will be improvements.

On the plus side the 372 is great. A real saw. Weakest point is the choke but it's a reproduction of something that wasn't that good on the originals which is why you see wire choke knobs on old huskys. And it hasn't actually broken and it may never, so it's not a problem. I love the saw, it's free revving, gutsy, easy to handle and touch wood, so far reliable. A beast. When does the 2100cd kit arrive?

I'd love to build one, but with shipping it was almost $300. When do they go on sale normally? I've been looking off and on for a couple of months and haven't seen a sale. Picked up a used 570 at a pawn shop for $230 that needs a piston, and a few screws, etc. Figured I'd build it, for my big saw.

Yeah its expensive for what is really just the building experience. But worth it I think. I've bought a couple (ok 5) of old parts saw husqvarna 261 268 272 61 etc to rebuild, and the most I paid was $70 with the least being a dollar reserve auction I won for a dollar. Then the huztl plastics and bits make sense and you get a reliable old fun saw saved from landfill.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with a messy work bench! Too many projects and not enough time is my theme in the garage.

Do you by chance remember what cylinder came with that Hutzl 365/372 kit? Was it an open or closed port? 48mm or 50mm? I'm thinking of grabbing one during their big sale coming up.

Closed port 50mm and it was a honey. No spurs or sprags clean and accurate. I was surprised and impressed but I think its a bit hit and miss,I ordered a 272 cylinder and it came marked made in Italy and it was a mess.

I've only got 4 and the wife is complaining. What's she going to say when I order one of those 372 kits next week. LOL

Nice collection! Thanks for the info. I rebuilt a 61 with the Hutzl 272 Italian jug also. My ports looked great but the base wouldn't fit into the case. Way out of spec. After a bunch of work got it to fit and she's a strong runner. Definitely a hit and miss affair dealing with them.
