still need parts

hi ! mean time, I still need piston and cylinder. I checked the crank, rod and bearing and found out they are still all right. ( didn't find any flat spot on the bearing )

Since it is Chrome plated or Ni-Si plated Aluminum cylinder, I don't think it can be re-bored.

I love my SP-81 enough that I've gotten some "piece of mind"....

Traded a good running, but "not my style" modern saw for this McCulloch SP-81/PM850 piston/cylinder/etc "kit" and a couple NOS bars. These will keep my saw running for a long time to come. He's happy, and I'm VERY happy.:D

I've since sent the 92520 'C' piston back to the fellow I traded with. He sent me some $$$ to cover it, and I've already gotten an NOS 92518 'A' piston for my cylinder using said $$$. All is well!

I've seen NOS pistons and cylinders for these saws on feebay quite a bit over the last year or so.

I'm sorry but it isn't for sale. I got it to keep my SP-81 in business for a long time. That saw has some light scoring already. I may be able to save the existing cylinder with a new piston (and a cleanup of whatever alluminum transfer might be on the cylinder walls), but the jug may well be damaged as well. The scoring is on the intake side, which usually means it ate something it shouldn't have.

I don't know, other than McCulloch specified that the pistons and cylinders must be matched up. Even though I have had all three sizes of new pistons here at one time or another I never bothered measuring them.

The rings are one part #, so the dimensional difference must be small enough that one set of rings still works for all three sizes.

See below for he details on the cylinders and pistons.

FWIW - The SP80 had a different cylinder & piston than the 81, 81E, and PM850 saws.

They changed again for the PM805, 800, and Super 850 with some having a compression release above the muffler, some having the "Q" port. DE80 interchanges with the PM800, PM8200 is all alone in its design.

Joey Taylor stopped to see me a few years ago and we spread out our 82 cc McCulloch saws for a photo op. I need to so this again as I have added the complete round up in my collection now.
