so I picked up my new 395xp today and as I was looking it over and I seen made in Brazil, when did this start happening??

Late 2016/early 2017. Husqvarna will manufacture the 395XP in Brazil at least until the 595XP becomes available (rumored to be late 2019) and probably alongside the new model for some time.

Rest assured quality is exactly the same as previous Made in Sweden saws.

Time will tell I guess, although I can’t tell any difference in quality comparing my 394 to 395

Longevity has always been about proper maintenance. You care for your tools, and they will in-turn care for you. Sounds corny I know, but it's true.

I've always felt that way about buying new saws, I would think if there was an issue with one that it would show itself within the first year.

Probably the first few uses.

I think I used my 661 more in the first month, than I have in the previous year. Why I've always favored the ride it like you stole it method for break in.

Brazil's manufacturing is top-notch. I would have no problems with buying a new Made in Brazil Husky. (I wish we could get the non EPA 61 still being made there!)

In the past I've checked with buying saws directly from Brazil.
The Huskie 61 is what I'd call a "reasonably priced saw": at R$2,200 it's about €560, which would be a smashing great deal for such a good saw. But throw in VAT and custom duties and you are already looking at over €750. Shipping... I don't even want to get there.
Finally official dealerships are not very keen to ship the saw directly, so you need to find somebody to do it for you. Unless the guy is a good friend or relative doing it out of kindness you need to pay the chap something for his troubles.
Morale, your €560 saw has morphed into a €900+ saw, which will buy you a whole lot of saw anywhere, unless you live in Australia and New Zealand of course.
You have to really really want a brand new saw of a very specific model to jump through all the hoops and especially pay all that money...

Those are mounting holes for a 'tank-case' protector plate OEM Husqvarna part, try to order that, it's cheap protection for that nice saw, top of plate mounts under case screw, easy to install.

Don’t happen to have a part number or link to where I can get one?
