After the last fiasco of shipping a saw to MO for $45 thru the P.O. and it taking 2 1/2 weeks I took everybody’s advice and went to FedEx this morning. Shipped a new Maruyama 51 (Dolmar 5105) to NV. I insured it for $500. The bill came to $88!!!!! I’ll never sell and ship another saw again, can’t afford it!!! :baba:

I've found FedEx to charge more by size than weight. Your saw should have fit in a 12x12x16 Lowe's small or "paquena" moving box, with room for packaging. That, and the ins would make a huge difference. Plus, if you create and use your "at home" account and print your own label another percentage discount is applied. This is all from my experience shipping saws and craft beer around the country.

No, take that back. Using usps, the cost would still be only @ $20-$25
I just shipped the identical saw to MO using P.O. It cost $46 and took 2 1/2 weeks.

I tried a smaller box and this is the same as a 5105 and I couldn’t get any bubble wrap around the saw to protect it. Screw it, from now on if I can’t sell a saw local to buy another one then I guess that’s how it will be.
