Meets JASO FC & FD? Perhaps the marketing crew should have spent five minutes on the Internet instead of patting themselves in the back.
The FD standard is nothing more than FC with a higher detergent content. The JASO standard is not doubly applied so your oil will be either FC or FD, MA or MA2, not FC and FD, not MA and MA2.

I am sorry to sound like an oil nerd but when you deal with these things for years to an end you tend to run on autopilot.

Well; I read that over a time or two, and to me it doesn't say the oil is both FC and FD. It only states it meets the standards of those two oils.
What-ever all that means - - - - .... I like it, because it's easily accessible around here. Other brands I have are On-Line sourced .

I'm sure they do that because there are people who will not purchase the product if it does not specifically state that something they are looking for. Sure, the first standard was superseded by a second which was then superseded by a third, but if they've always used the product that met that inferior second standard, they will not buy that product even though it meets the third standard which is better.

Seems like a bit of a run-on. I hope it makes sense.

I went and picked up a can of Trufuel
Today , got the 40:1 mix. Dumped out
The gas that was in the saw and tryed the Trufuel. Didn’t cut any wood but it
Started right up and idled good. Soon
As it warms up abit I’ll get out and cut a load of wood. Thanks for all the comments on this thread guys.

From the label it doesn't look as if its been tested ?only that it contains the relevant "brew"to meet what a JASO test would require unless it's me & it's odd way of wording Ah see I'm not the only one

Other than saying an oil is certified and using the JASO or API certification emblem when its not been tested, oil blenders are pretty free to right what ever they desire on an oil bottle to market their product. The high court in the US could not even define the meaning of the term 'synthetic' & concluded its meaning was nothing more than a marketing term...

As always: if it's cheap, doesn't cause a ton of carbon buildup and it doesn't destroy my lungs with some particularly foul smell it's good in my book.

The FC standard is a green rating iirc, and little to do with protection of moving parts in the saw.

I love this old thread...

I use a 102 octane gas, the only ethanol-free fuel available here
(used for racing engines, but still cheaper than pre-mix)
in the mixing ratio 40: 1 (125ml @ 5 l petrol)

The oil I use is a 2-stroke (petrol) engine oil on a 100% synthetic basis.
Meets the Product Specifications; API TC, JASO FD & Husqvarna (?)

I've been running supertech 2 stroke oil for about 3 years now because it comes in 2 gallon containers and wally world is a mile from my house. It doesn't leave much carbon, turns the gas blue, and smells fairly good. I run it with 87 shell gas.

Just to make this thread interesting with people telling me how bad it is for my saws.....Its marine two stroke oil rated for air cooled engines as well.

Maxima FORMULA K2 Full synthetic, triple ester 2-stroke engine oil 40:1 make all air cooled 2 strokes live a long life.

40 to 1 Stihl in orange bottle and E Free gas I like to see the smoke , E10 is bad for any engines in my book. I hate it in small engines it will screw up the fuel system if it sets for a few months case closed

I run Amsoil Saber in my saws. They say it can be mixed at 100:1. I have seen plenty of cases where folks have mixed it at that ratio, and it seems to work. I still mix it at 50:1 and my saws run great with it.
Really seems to keep the rings and ports clean! Spark plugs last forever also.

That is incorrect. JASO and ISO set a minimum standard for lubrication, cleanliness and smoke. If JASO certified they will have a seal plus # unique to that product, not sure of ISO. Just because a manufacture claims a status does not make it true unfortunately.

The oil we use is "Brewed" by a small company all ex ELF guys It has no rating as they could not afford the $75,000 test fee but both they & we know the make up of the oil so no problem the Jaso Iso rating is your quality rating as an aside the 2 best in all testsof oil were Ipone Samurai & Elf HTX 955/6
