i got a meteor cylinder kit for my 395 xp when it gets wore out, these seamed to be the best quality af kit available, are they a good option for a firewood saw??

I’d check on the oem price as well. There was a post last week from a dealer that husky dropped prices for most saws to really close to hyway and other mid level af prices.

That would be a huge drop. Would like to know if they did.

New 395 kit is $150 or so im pretty sure, maybe a little more. In many cases OEM top ends for huskys are now win $10 or $20 of a meteor kit. @spike60
I would always go OEM despite cost, but it's so close now it's a no brainer.

.........guys I think he has already purchased the kit wanted to know if it is a quality product ...... ;)

My experience is that some Meteor cylinders are better than others. They have more casting flaws than OEM in many cases and the squish band can be excessive, resulting in low compression. The plus side is that they have thicker plating than a farmertec jug or similar, so they can be saved if some scoring happens. In Husky, the difference in price of the jug is pretty small but selling a saw with a meteor jug is more difficult. So many builders go with OEM. If you're porting, the difference may not matter, as you do a lot of cleanup on the jug anyway.

Most kits came down again as of March 1st. The 395 kit actually went up a slight bit, but I still sell them for $150.

The new prices really put the higher end aftermarket brands like Meteor in a tough spot. They no longer offer that "middle of the road" cost option like they used to. In many cases the OEM kit are actually lower than the meteor kits.

Thank you for

thanks for the info spike60, the last time I checked the oem kit was a lot more than a meteor which was why I went with it, could not justify spend 200ish dollars on a used saw that is only used for the occasional big dead oak That I occasionally come across, if the meteor is decent I will use it when the time is right.

I just bought a 357xp Meteor cylinder and piston kit from HLsupply for $130.00, OEM is $100 for piston and $173 for the cylinder.. where are these cheaper OEM parts?

Actually you could have got the OEM piston and cylinder for $128.00 or less.
