I did some searching and it seems everyone goes the other way from 325 to picco (ms261 Stihl Performance kit).. but is there any way to go from picco on my 211 to 325?

I asked my local Stihl dealer and he tried to help, but said that he didnt want to give me false information. He believes its possible using true Stihl parts.

I plan to run a 16" bar and 325 if it can be made to happen - so that all of my saws will run 325. Makes sharpening and buying chains easy.

I know it will cut a bit slower then the picco that comes on it - and I am ok with that. Its not a race for me.

Any help with PN# would be greatly appreciated!

MS250 and MS211 are compatible with swapping sprockets/bars?

My buddy has a junk ms250 that I think I can scavenge parts from if thats the case

Stihl offers 3/8 picco rim and sprocket kit as an option.

Part number 1123 007 1030.

023 what others?

Stihl use mini rim.....Oregon use small rim

I copied the above from a post a number of years ago. Then get a Stihl mini spline rim in .325 to do what you want.

There is an Oregon rim kit as well that will come with the right rim and 1/4 inch pitch sprockets can be used on that spline.

HarleyT might be getting you to choose a spur sprocket. At any rate you will go to 7 tooth drive instead of 6 and bigger teeth.

Yup it appears that if you throw on a .325 spur or rim and a .325 bar you are good to go .

Some of the old 36cc and 40cc Huskys came set up with .325 which would have similar power as your saw. You should be fine.

Parts are on order - I borrowed them off a friends saw just to confirm fitting.

It will be a 7tooth drum, 325 yellow chain and 16 inch bar.

I have no doubt in its ability to pull a 16in bar unless i drop it in an oak log..

Results are in. Can 100% confirm that MS250 parts slap right in!

Switched everything over and fired it up.

Was just cutting some maple - nothing crazy hard. Was about 8 inch in diameter.

First few cuts with the new stuff seemed.. "ok" at best... was a bit shocked at how lack luster it was.

Back to the work bench. Checked out the brand new chain. Rakers to teeth had all different kinds of heights... and the cutting teeth were varying by as much as 60-80thou(had a mic on hand) between one another.

Hit them with the Stihl 2in1 sharpener... just 4 strokes each tooth... very minimal pressure. It felt like most of the cutting was being done on the rakers. Checked them all again for variance - dropped to 20-30thou betweent hem all... thats not to bad. All the rakers had obvious marks on them from the file.

Back to the wood....

Cuts SO much better than the first round about. I doubt I'll ever drop all 16 inches in to a full log... as thats what the modded 261CMQ is for... but for light cleanup and limb work and what not.. its so nice to carry the little guy around.

I'll do my best to remember to update this when i go up to the farm for spring clean up and get to use it for a full day.

Ran it in some silver maple today. Up to about 10 inches - it ran fine, even when pushed. This is with a semi chisel, RM chain. Over about 10 inches, it would cut, just needed to not push the saw to hard. I think if i gill the muffler, and give it an 1/8th turn past the the high stop it should be awesome.

Check your mail.

Ran it at the farm but the carb was not feeling friendly.. and was bogging in 6-8 inches of wood.

Need to clean it out and well see how it runs.

had it out for labor day.. not sure what bug was up its butt last time - but a lil seafoam sitting in it over night and it was more then up to the task of 8 inch oak/maple.
