I swapped a beat up husky 350 for an 076 that'd been pulled down then abandoned because it needs a crank and top end, only rebuild kit I can find is a chingaling for $480 landed at my door, does anyone know if they're worth it or if there are any other options? many thanks, Darnz.

ps. an 076 is a unicorn find down here in Aotearoa

Buy a TS760 from eBay. I usually buy them for around $100 with an OEM jug and piston. I've had good luck with used OEM jugs and pistons from these saws; that's what I usually use when converting an 051 (87cc) to an 075/076 (111cc).

Here's one with an aftermarket top end - https://www.ebay.com/itm/STIHL-TS76...980676?hash=item5208531444:g:dz4AAOSwWGxazSza

If you look around for a bit you should be able to find one with an OEM jug and piston for a reasonable price.

Good luck.

I'm still pretty green with these saws, does that whole thing slip into an 076?

Cross brand has a very good cylinder kit, and the aftermarket Tecomec cranks are decent.
I don't know what shipping cost would be, but HL Supply should have them both, plus a gasket seal kit.
Great supplier.

If you are planning on using the TS760 crankcase to convert over to a chainsaw, only the earlier ones had the oil pump bore cast into the housing. The later versions omitted the oiler completely.

Yep. Good point here. I usually just harvest the jug, piston, and crank, but you could also convert the TS760 crankcase into a chainsaw.

What parts do you need for it? There’s a couple of people here selling parts for them on trademe, I’ve got a few spares too.

Does it have a chainbrake?

I have had a look on TM at some parts, I'll have a better look over it in the next couple days and possibly piece it back together, deffinatly needs a crank possibly top end, gaskets and probably carb kit and filters.

doesn't have a chain brake, bore is very clean except for a tiny dimple opposite the exhaust port so I might replace the crank and rings and just send it, gaskets carb kit and filter then possibly see if it'll pull a 5 foot bar

thanks alexcagel for putting me onto HL supply they have some good stuff

I have a 070 075 076 that I thought were worthless. About two years ago was going to get rid of all the older stuff, but at the last moment thought they might have some value so started cleaning them up to use. They all needed some thing, gasket carb kit, rings, seals etc. They produce more than I thought possible. Getting a working decomp valve has been a challenge. Starting a 100 CC plus saw with out releasing a little pressure is not always smart. When you need a log rounded they get it done fast. Thanks
