Lol cement I ask you does cement grow on trees? In response to the large tear and not closing , there is not much that can be done other than keeping the tree in a healthy growing environment. Pruning sealer at the time of injury may possibly slowed decay fungi but can introduce phytotoxins , ultimately you will have decay there. It is not necessarily a death sentence. 5-6 years tree you say appears healthy sometimes the best action is in-action especially in the cement dept "just saying"
I don't know what "CODIT" walls are, but I have notice cavity getting a little smaller in diameter but not closing completely. Like you mention in post, I'll just keep would clean and keep ground around base of tree moist in hot dry weather.
Ok so you don't get the wrong idea Trees consume 100s of gallons per day in hot dry weather though normal transpiration and respiration. Merely moistening the ground wont work, if you water it , water it deep but do not flood every few days in droughts only. Trees acclimate to their conditions rather well and seldom need our help but in prolonged droughts they can benefit from deep infrequent watering! Thank you for your help, I Now know a couple of things I have been doing in the past I have been doing wrong, one is about deep watering during drought and the other has been my loading mulch around base of tree even touching the bark, I did it for the appearance and also to keep ground moist.
Well if you watered deep in prolonged drought you did it correct. Deep watering infrequent is better than shallow frequent watering!
