I am no expert but 35% permethrin needs to be diluted with water. This product is 1200 times more toxic to ticks than humans but it is still toxic to us.

Let me know if you need help with the arithmetic.

Let me know if you need help with the arithmetic.

A product called Tick Block bills itself as being effective at repelling or killing ticks, etc.

One package – which is 6 oz of 0.5% permethrin – is billed as being effective to treat "one large outfit" (pants, socks and shirt) for six weeks (or six machine washings).

6 oz = 177 mL
0.5% permethrin contains 5 mg / mL

5 mg/mL x 177 mL = 885 mg permethrin in one kit.

36.8% permethrin contains 368 mg/mL

If you use 36.8% permethrin SFR, a "kit" would have 885 mg / 368 mg/mL = 2.4 mL of 36.8% permethrin.

To make a 0.5% solution of permethrin for spraying onto clothes, boots, etc.:

Mix water with 36.8% solution permethrin at a rate of 73-to-1 by volume.

Permethrin for Dogs (DO NOT USE PERMETHRIN ON CATS!)

Freedom 45 Spot-On for Dogs

33# and Under: Permethrin 45% (CAS # 52645-53-1) 0.05 fl. oz. (1.5 cc)

33 - 66 #: Permethrin 45% (CAS # 52645-53-1) 0.10 fl. oz. (3.0 cc)

For a 33# dog, the second line above would translate to:

450 mg/ml x 3 ml = 1,350 mg permethrin

1,350 mg permethrin / 15 kg = 90 mg / kg

So 90 mg permethrin per kg of dog weight would be the upper range of the target dosage for use on the skin of dogs.

Made by the same people that made the 'bug

I pulled one off my inner thigh Sunday morning, 'close to the heart', as they say. He was dead. May have been alcohol poisoning after Saturday's party.
My mother, bless her heart, always said it ain't no wonder I never get sick.. What would live in your body with all the booze and drugs you've taken over the years.. I'm 63 now. Maybe I'm on to something here!

I’m on morphine for pain, what bites me doesn’t live for long.
The misses got something for tics from the vet that lasts for three months, so far recently only one live tic and one dead tic on one of my three outside cats.

Oh thanks Steve. That's so comforting after reading that story.
It's not enough that I'm checking myself over every time I come in from logging now after my tick bite.
I think I've used a whole can or two of bug spray since.
Now I'm itchy again....lol
i saw an article in my farm newspaper and had to look them up. mainly NJ,VA and WVA. one article said one was found on a dog in AR and they had no idea how it got that far south.
