OAK FIRE WOOD PRICE

I live in Becker,MN and have 10 cords of red oak I want to sell.The cords are 16Wx24Lx4H.What is it selling for a cord?I was thinking $1,500.00 which would be $150.00 a cord.

Mine is all split and dried and I thought someone with a truck could buy it and sell it down in the cities for $250.00 a cord and make an easy profit.

My average price for Oak is $450 a cord. When we have an actual winter it goes up dramatically. Stove wood has been at $500 a cord for at least five years. When some one wants short stove wood its $600 to $800 a cord easy. But then we do not always have winters we will see. Thanks

If it’s a true cord of seasoned oak you should definitely ask more than $150. It goes for $250-300 a cord in northern MN although some guy in Duluth advertises at $145 and then shows up with a face cord.

I believe there are more variables than just the dimension to consider. Is it a cord of boiler wood, small split bundle wood, oak wilt wood, etc. Becker is a hot spot for the wilt. I'm not opposed to cutting or burning it, but it can look bad.

I pay $100 a cord on average for oak logs delivered, free of oak wilt. At $150 a cord cut and split it sounds like a bargain if the cuts and splits are uniform. If not then it is on par for what I would consider boiler wood.

I ask for $250 a cord, 16-18" splits. Don't sell much wood any more but that's what I was wanting when we were selling mostly ash, and we sold mostly ash because we sold that for $200 a cord. The people we sold to thought they were saving money, I wasn't going to argue as I'd rather keep the oak. We even told them the oak burned much longer, and often gave them some to try and they loved it. Some reason though, they kept on buying ash.

living in the triangle of Minneapolis, Chicago and Milwaukee $150.00 for 100" lengths are a good price! in the outer rural areas away from the urban areas were lucky to get $100.00 on a good day for the same. living in a trifecta, you can just about name your own price during a cold winter/spell with a readily available dry wood heating source.

The past few years since were not cutting that often it’s been $220 a 4’x4’x8’ long full cord. But I have to purchase two cords with a mix of red oak, white oak, hickory, maple, ash ect. No pine.

Tip. Being the white oak and hickory is the queen of firewood I separate them for the deep freeze weather because of the higher btu.

Did you pm him? In his second post he says the wood is all split and dried.

Based on what I have read here on this thread, firewood prices are still about the same as they were 10 years ago or more. Figure $180 a cord, split, delivered, and stacked. Dry oak, ash. hard maple, or locust might command another $10. Nobody gets rich quick selling firewood. It's a great hobby with lots of exercise.

I did it as a business and you have to stay going. My neighbor called me an ANT I never stopped working. Sell 50 cords and replace it with 50 cords every year. My wood was seasoned for a year. It paid for the one ton truck I built. But when it became time to buy a skidder I found a corporate job. Today I wished I stayed in the woods I wasn’t rich but a lot healthier.

Nothing about cutting firewood ever made a man rich......by the time you account for fuel, maintenance and sore back, you're just cutt'n for fun.

Futher south in VA i got $150 per cord, $400 for 4 cords, $500 for 6 cords " logs ".
Mostly Oak with some mix of Cherry , Maple and Hickory.

Will never understand why guys gives discounts for multiple cords. It takes the same amount of work and the wood sure won't rot in a year.

You could put free on a cord of seasoned pine around here and it would most likely rot before someone took it. The "pine will burn your house down" myth runs wild around here. Oak goes for 200 or so a cord split and delivered.
