i just received a new huztl engine cover for my 272xp. There’s a opening inside the cylinder and carb wall that has a plug in it for summer and winter running. I notice in the new cover it’s missing. Did anyone check theirs? I know the plug should be in the old cover, my saw is in the mail yet. I wanted to bring this to your attention. The cylinder doesn’t need more hot air in the summertime.

Those things don't really matter. So many people swap them and forget to swap them back. I have never noticed a difference. Maybe in the frozen north country would it matter but I don't think it does for most of the lower 48.

I open them in the cold weather. Close them when it warms up. It could sent excess heat during the summertime. Vapor lock could be the first thing that’s noticeable. Could cut down on the engine life running hotter air to the carb,

I’m talking a hole in the separator wall between the cylinder and carb. With the plug out of this hole the carb section gets warm air. In the summertime it would get hotter air from the cylinder.

And those holes to the outside draw in more "cool" (95f summer air) air under the cover where the air filter is.

That is what I was wondering about. Inside the cover. Side by side oem/after market comparison.

I’d assume OP speaks of one of the parts on bottom left.. 2nd pic seems to be an AM 272xp top shroud which looks Holy but I’m not familiar with the 272.

Maybe the part can be ordered from a dealer?

“Cant be too ‘spensive”.. but I’ve said those words before and was wrong

OR.. duct tape closed / duct tape open

I do know there Plastic Composition is Way Different than OEM. The only attraction is 11.00 opposed to 45.00-70.00 IF you can find one! I am taking orange top 61/272 vintage
