I have an olympyk 251 chainsaw. It has good compression and everything. The inside of the gas tank is corroded. I tried some soapy water and tiny nuts and it didn't do much. What else should I try? Thanks

View attachment 607925 View attachment 607927 just received my first Italian muscle saw a 999f. Was pleasantly surprised to find it was never used. I've seen several pictures of these over the years but this is the only one I've seen with a full wrap bar. Anyone seen a full wrap on a 999f before? Unfortunately the Dawgs were never installed and the original owner didn't know where they were at so I'm in the market for a set.
I guess Iv'e seen/worked on 4 or so 999F's & All have been Full wrap handles

Hi Everyone,I just picked up two Olympik saws today for $20 ea.I've got a 254 & a 254F.I tried to get both saws to fire.but no luck.I believe there's no spark.I looked up the specs on the saws & saw that they had fixed timing,so I couldn't adjust the air gap on the module.I found a used module on the Bay for $18.95,so I figured I couldn't go wrong. Both saws have great compression, the 254 feels like it's new.The problem is that I'm missing a clutch cover & recoil for the 254,so I had to take the recoil off the 254F & swap it onto the 254 to pull it over.I bought a 254 back in 1982 as one of my first saws.It ran great for a few yrs.,then it gave me oiler problems. When the saw got hot that was it,it'd quit oiling.I had the dealer put a used oiler in it & a new one too,all had the same problem.I finally got fed up with the saw & scrapped it.Now in retrospect I wish I would've kept it.Back then I knew nothing about repairing saws & took my saws into the saw shop for repairs. Now I do all of my own work & some for others too.
If anyone's got an extra recoil that they'd part with I'd greatly appreciate it.Of course I'd pay for it & the shipping too.

According to what i read both those saws are electronic ignition. Did the module work?

$15. scrapyard rescue. needed line, filter, carb kit. runs good.
was wantin one for my own use, so info not that important, just curious. tia.
seems stronger than friend's ts 400 [60ish cc stihl]
has dawg, filter & line in oil tank, too. didn't look for pump, but has adj screw same as 284 pics, back few pages.

I do believe that the Olympiks all came with bumper spikes on them,at least all the saws that I've seen anyway.I don't think it was an option where you could buy a saw with or without the spike,it came standard. One of my saws has a double spike on it.
As I understand it,a lot of parts will interrchange from one model to another.I'd like to know what starter recoils will fit onto the 254/254F?
