I saw a few forum comments elsewhere that husky might be stopping the 3120 and 390xp production soon? Any truth to this? Replacement models coming next year or something?

It’s gonna happen sooner or later. The thing with husky is they’ve been working on a saw we know about for a long time. To me, it’s pathetic how long they have taken but Wouldn’t that be something if they released a bunch of saws starting next year. If I knew they spent all this time testing a 90cc-120cc as well and kept it hidden from everyone I’d forgive them and be more impressed rather then seeing them as pathetic. If we get a long awaited 572 that really is no more reliable or better running then a 372 and have to wait 4 more years for a 90cc I’m giving stihl another chance.

What i know is:
They are not allowed to sell the 3120, 395 and maybe 390 after January 2019, because of EPA reasons in the EU. ( same with the 880)

Stihl will sure introduce a new 120cc in 2019/2020
I don’t think Husqvarna will introduce a new 120cc saw.

As usual, I expect them to move production to Brazil (if they haven't already), and continue production regardless of US and EU regulations.
If it is considered worthwhile to develop new large models for the US and EU is an open question?

For the 881 i heard this:

Some prototype saw's are now out for testing here in germany. First details are:

  • 120cc
  • fuel injection
  • about 10hp on paper
From 2019 on, the emission standards do not allow a further production of the 880 (in europe). But some high stihl guy's like Bertram Kandziora and Hans Peter Stihl still want the "strongest and biggest" production saw, mostly for the prestige of the Stihl-Brand.

I'd better keep the 390xp

Some time ago I thought Husky was coming out with a 390-395 replacement with AT...but here I sit still waiting

Maybe ST will know @SawTroll

I don't, all I have heard have been rumors and/or speculations that would be old news on this forum.

If there was to be a chainsaw based on the ca. 95 cc "strato" power cutter it should have happened years ago, and I haven't seen any real evidence of a larger version of the 572.

Emerging Markets: basically Brazil, The Philippines, Indonesia, Nigeria, Malaysia etc.
The Husqvarna 3120XP has never sold well in those places, partly because it was hard to obtain (in most place only available as a parallel import) and partly because it has a reputation of not holding up to local conditions (hot humid weather, poor fuel and oil etc) as well as the smaller Stihl 070 and the Echo CS1200.

I honestly couldn’t see the 390xp going cause isn’t it a strato engine? 395 and 3120 are the only ones left that do not have strat ports... correct me if I’m wrong.

EPA must base their rulings on sales of saws, cause the 395 and 3120 have remained un touched in pollution design since their release.

What I do know for sure is that the 395xp production must be slowing down because I initially wanted the 395xpg and the dealer said that they are no longer available.... only the std and full wrap versions are in production.
Also mine was bought just a little over a month ago and it’s assembled in Brazil, which makes me think what the others are saying are correct...

that make sense for me.
Bob aka Spike60 posted a picture of the bearings 572 vs 372, it shouldnt be difficult for Husky to release a 90cc saw due that bearing dimensions.
Its something else with the 3120 plattform as it has extremely little in common with their other big saws, we're probleby speaking that they gotta build it from the bottom, lets call it for 5120 for today.
I belive they will make a 5120 also, marked is western Coast, and Husky is kinda interested on that area due ammount sale.

We should'nt forget the small Huskies like 545/550 and 555/560 and 556/562, series who gets updates several time a year, 545/550 got a new 6 bolt crankcase just a couple month ago, while the 60cc got a new intake boot & carburetor.

Even in those times where lots of 5xx serie get updates, my favourite lineup is still: 242 xpg, 346 xpg, 560 xpg, 372 xpg!
I hope to start up with a tad milling so a big Huskies is probleby needed ;)
