What kind of walnut?

Pretty confident this is a walnut tree, but can anybody tell specifically what kind? In the far away picture it’s the tree on the left. A friend asked me to take it down and I plan on milling what I can into slabs. Thanks!

Yard walnut.

Watch out for nails, hooks, screws, spikes, dog chains, wire fence, bike locks, etc. that could be hiding in the wood.

Not sure on nuts, they have all fallen awhile ago and only see broken shells around the tree from the mower. Just got asked about it a few days ago and never paid much attention to it before that.

That looks like an english walnut. Its wood is not the same as the black walnut. It's a little more plain white colored, with the occasional discolored areas.

I totally undetstand. There isn't a wood yet, that I wasn't excited to see it milled up. Each tree, almost no matter the species has its own treasures inside. Walnut smells pretty nice too...so and extra bonus.

best to use a mask/ respirator when doing work on walnut- some can have a nasty reaction not only respiratory wise but also skin wise.
