I have a brand new starter assembly, but alas I'm the other side of the pond and carriage will be a fortune ;o( try looking for an old partner k1200 disc cutter, as they are based on a p100 ;o)

I may have cheated. This was still available when my turn came to choose in the $10/ticket raffle. The way I have being a bit rough with equipment itsi a shelf Queen for a while at least.

Picked this up last night. overall its in decent shape, should run with minor work to it. I believe its a R440 but i'm seeking other opinions. Measured bore twice with solder and both times it was in the 56-high 57's. So i'm thinking its a 56mm piston. Tons of compression. Yes I noticed the mac starter cover. Does anyone have partner one they want to let go?

Port a 500??? Never did any before but I've been reading here and may enter into this realm if it is practical. My saw is from the early 80's but used very little considering the years. Is porting, along with other performance mods such as timing and squish, something a complete newb can do without a huge risk? I have all the tools needed as best as I can tell. I have the machinery and ability to make other tooling as well. If heating up a 500 is a good project what can I expect to gain for say a "mid level" or beginner saw mod? Will a 500 behave like a saw that say 10-15 cc bigger? Sorry if these are questions that are beyond basic.
Thanks

Yeah, that's a good saw to port and play with. Do some grinding, lose the base gasket, open the muffler. Million good porting threads around here.

What do I need to do to a 500 muffler? I'll remove the screen so what else helps without port work?
Thanks

Just pull the baffle out of the center and then make the round exit hole bigger around. All that is needed.
Just removing the baffle makes a biggest difference IMO.

It seems much improved with the baffle removed and the exit hole enlarged. I also beat the small baffle that gets bolted against the outside of the muffler bigger.
I don't have any benchmarks so I can't quantify the improvement if any. It is SUPER loud so ear protection will be a must.
This saw cuts like an animal. It's been a long time since I last used it.
Wille I had the muffler off I looked at the piston and it is completely blemish free. Not even the slightest scratch which I like even though it doesn't tell the whole story.

Another Partner thinkin its a Skilsaw

One of my newest Partners a S55 wanting to be a Canadian/US skilsaw!!! funny tag says Skilsaw USA then made in Canada!! then funnier yet because the case still says Made in Sweden. Model 1632, I really like this saw NO av but still fun to use for short periods. A pleasure to run and own. this saw has very little hours on it. The 7 pin rim sprocket on it says Partner and is in great shape still.
Anyone looking to part with any? I might want to start a Skilsaw collection to keep my Partners company.
I know this is an old post but i just found a nice 1632. Guy claims its never been ran. So im pretty happy about it.

Partner 500 project P&C options?

I have a saw I purchased and the PO said it has a bad P&C. Can anyone offer what options are available for a direct swap? If I do anything with the saw it will be a winter project so I have time to gather parts. I have the required machines to do modifications to the piston and/or cylinder but would rather get a direct fitting setup.
Thanks
