I am new here and looking to get a running saw for chainsaw milling. I am looking for $300 ish, maybe thats crazy. I will be milling logs under 18 in diameter.

The guy with the post directly above yours has a Pro Mac 700 for sale. It would work for what you are talking about and be under budget

I’ve got a 056 super or regular 056 I’ll sell you. Both are projects. Don’t remember much about them. But for less than $300 you could make it a good running saw. 87cc 0r 81cc

looking to mill some maple longs that are 18in wide and up to 20ft long

Yeahh 288xp would be fine for your budget/target.
Bigger is better but a Dustin mentions , the 288 can keep up with oiling a big bar.
I recently sold mine but when I was running it, it was with a 36” bar.... never had an issue with power or oiling.
Nice saw... very strong... I just prefer auto-tune.

I've got a few myself as well as mtronic saws. The only one I've had an issue with is an early 550, it had a stumble off idle like it needed the low adjusted, sure would have been nice to know about that screw behind the welch plug back then lol.
I like mine too.
Disclaimer:
I don't cut full time and I've got a lot of saws that get rotated in so they get used even less.

I 'm going to be selling my 076 and granberg soon. Little more than that price wise. She's milled quite a bit of wood.

I want $500 for the 076, 36 inch granberg, and a Carlton 32 inch bar. I think it's more than fair. She's rough looking and had to earn her keep but I've milled for five years with her. Could use a carb clean and tune I'm sure. Bit finicky last time, finished the job like always.
