That 2149 is actually more impressive in person running 3/8 chain in hard oak, I dare say it is the most impressive 50cc saw I have ran to date, want to run my 5105 against it one day, that will be fun!

The 50cc class is really polarizing(even without the characters here) because it's so versatile. They're small enough to be limbers, they do alright bucking smaller log length firewood. They're inexpensive enough to get into racing if one desires. Every voter has a different, very strong opinion, because of their use. Add on top of that that the OP wants to throw in something out of the CC class(which, coincidentally, he has for sale here) and this thread will literally never end.

I voted 550, because in my opinion it is more versatile. I'm guessing the 261 is similar right now. If I was heading to the woods without knowing what I would encounter, I'd probably want the 550 with an 18". I have a lot of time on Dolmar 510xs, so I trust them and appreciate how smooth and easy to use they are. I wouldn't hesitate to take one of those with an 18" or 16" bar. If I were taking two saws I would choose a 346 or 2153 with a short bar for limbing and light bucking. The 501p looks like it could fill this role as well.

What is up with the 2149 cylinder design? Same basic design as the 346? Mahle or Husqvarna cylinder like the 353?

It's 42mm open port, completely different than a 346 jug.

Most likely it has a 44.3 346xp piston and cylinder on the 2149 mag case. It's a bolt on swap.

It gets confusing. I put the same thing together last winter. I just called it a 2149/53

Sorry. I wasn't trying to hide anything. I figured it was obvious that it wasn't the open port cylinder.
