New Timberwolf alpha

Anyone see the new Timberwolf Alpha ? Its pretty slick ! They have posted videos on Facebook but not on their website. Its a box head splitter that pulls the round back onto the beam. $12k for the bigger one.

It looks like a great set up for someone that splits alone. I have a TW5 and its great but when splitting the real big rounds of oak that I get a lot - 3 ft and such I need a helper to move the round back to the lift to resplit. This set up does it automatically.

Guess I better start saving up.

Just watched the video and it looks a little janky. Like the top portion of the box has lots of movement. Will have to wait for more videos I guess. I like the automated bio mass box splitter better. Yes I know they are owned by the same folks.

I thought i read somewhere in the comments that the wedge is removable and you can put a 4 way on it. Thats also kinda of a cool feature if you get something stuck in it - just remove it / flip it over and clear the split.

As with most processer type machines, creates a lot of waste/tiny pieces. For a guy making bundles or campfire wood, it looks great. The pieces are way too small for my liking though.

What's the cost?

Looks like it is a great mulch maker. A little red dye and you could be in business.

Ya, unless I'm missing something, that is a great kindling or waste maker.

It is always pulling back the stuff on the top of the wedge for resplitting, even if it is small & doesn't need resplitting.

Maybe there is some kind of adjustment not apparent...

It should be a simple matter to reduce it some, however, by raising that 'dragging back' arm thing up a few inches. So the small enough stuff doesn't get split up yet again. That also just seems to be way bigger than it needs to be.

But if it is only a prototype, well I guess the real thing might be different.

Also: That would be a nice splitter set up in a processor to eliminte re-splitting. Let the cylinder cycle a few times between cuts, and save a lot on rehandling.

On the Auto bio mass version I have seen the guy grab the smaller pieces so they don't get shredded. I think maybe the thought is that the seller wouldn't care and is just worried about production. I also think wood type would play a factor in this as well.

The alpha is a good looking machine with the box splitter on it. From what I can see it doesn’t have much more waste than my splitter with the four way wedge on it does. Type of wood makes a difference in waste stringy is always terrible. I’d like to see videos with the 12.5 hp and some knotty wood all I’ve seen is the 20 hp machine.

I’ve just purchased the Alpha. Hope it lives up to my expectations. What’s really needed is an auto cycle option so can just pull split lvr once to begin split and return cycle.

I watched the video they had on the website and the one thing I noticed on that is with the wood going up a conveyor you can see some big, big splits. Let us know how it works and give us a first hand will you?

Does your T5 have a box wedge? There are several homemade/homemade designs on YouTube that include a return arm. The fixed wedge design does not interest me for that reason. I would rather work a stationary round than reach and pull/push to reload the beam.

I think Eastonmade has an open box wedge that easily changes out. I like the alpha design, very simple, although I dont think it is as strong as the EM.







This Timberwolf seems to have substantial movement at the wedge. The wedge seems to have an adjustable height. I do not know if this movement is just clearance within the receiver.



I think I like the TW design better.
