I am thinking about selling my 346NE to help fund a t540. I use my 562 for just about everything and have almost decided a 14'' 540xp would be more useful. I think a lighter saw would be handy and my 346xp is getting little use. Anyone have thoughts?

I cut 8 to 10 cords per year for firewood and use a saw a little around my 40 acres of timber.

Disclaimer- I really like my husky dealer. I am not at all interested in other brands of saws today.

Had both 346XP and the T540 both great saws. The 346xp is personally my favourite saw so I’d never suggest to sell it. In all seriousness though if it gets no use the top handle would be a smart choice. The T540 has a lot of power for its size, I preferred it to my current stihl top handle.
If it will increase your productivity then swap.
You might even make money, unless you’re buying brand new. I sold 2 346’s for between £200-300 and picked up my 540 for just over £100.
Hope that helps.

Any reason not to go with the t540?
Because it is not their battery one.
I often use the top of the bar and put a knee on the back of the saw. Not sure how any of the top handle saws with the air filter in the rear would work for this.

I doubt these are what you had in mind for an answer. I do not have a 540t but do believe there were some changes along the way, the first ones had quite wiggly anti vibe and I got the 338xpt.

I have 2 echo 355T and my climbers both prefer them over my Stihl MS200T. i bought them for 349.00 plus tax.
Oh and don't get rid of the 346 I have 3 of them and they are preferred over the Stihl MS 260 and MS 261

The 346 NE is becoming hard to find. They have excellent handling, ease of maintenance and power. Very few other 50cc saws compete.

540t has a reputation for finicky behavior and poor longevity. Stihl and Echo make more reliable top handles. The new generation of 25cc top handles are pretty incredible and worth considering too. I know arborists running Stihl 150t and Husky 562 as a two saw do-all plan. Putting a 346 in the middle wouldn't be bad.
