As of a few days ago when I checked, Gregg hasn't been on here since August last year, isn't returning my PM's, the site hasn't returned my recent email to them either.
Is it just that overseas orders are not welcome any more or is LCS on their way out or?

Anyone having any luck ordering and getting orders from them lately? I hope all's good and it's just a temporary glitch like they have been swamped with orders and slow to reply but am keen to check.

Tried a while back and it went to voicemail only. Just tried today for ya and same thing.
So not sure

I spent several days trying to get a hold of them last fall. Actually went as far as calling neighboring business to ask if there was anyone home.

Apparently they're only open a few days a week now. Or they were then anyway. The guy I talked to on the phone (not Gregg) said that they had just finished a draining 2 year lawsuit with Lucas Mills. Don't know any details beyond that.

Yeah, I heard it got ugly and noticed the sale of Lucas parts and that Baileys are doing Lucas now. I just checked the Californian business records and the Left Coast Supplies, LLC registration was cancelled on the 7th of December. I don't know if that means they started/kept going under another company name or not? It's not looking good though. I hope they find a way through it. Gregg was great to deal with and didn't strike me as the sort to invite trouble.

*edit* Jaysus, things are getting murky or at least a bit difficult to understand. Bringing up that cancellation document it's signed by a name that seemed familiar but I couldn't place it. 15 minutes later it comes to me. That's the name of a guy at Lucas in Aus I have dealt with a few times recently who has provided absolutely second to none service to me with my new-to-me used Lucas Mill. It says he's a director of an Aus company so I'm going to guess it's the same person from Lucas in Aus. Who knew someone at Lucas in Aus had the authority to sign Left Coast Supplies, LLC's death warrant? Perhaps that was part of the outcome of the court case?

In any event, hopefully LCS are still going to keep the doors open perhaps under another name or with another company, but it does make me question why the website still says Left Coast Supplies LLC when that company has been technically dead for a few months now.

And I especially hope Gregg hasn't been too burnt by everything. Like I wrote previously, he doesn't strike me as the sort to deserve to be dragged through the mud. Rather he seems one of the industry's good guys worth supporting.

Updating with some more confusing findings. A competing swingblade sawmill brand, Peterson Sawmills, made here in NZ, is being sold in USA by Sawyers Choice, LLC, according to the latter's website. A company that the same California company records website says was started midway through last year by a name that didn't ring a bell until I googled it and it said they were a director of LCS. The company address is also on the same street as LCS. Is that the company now running LCS's website? If not, is the site still up to clear out the remainder of LCS's stock? Did someone buy that stock and are still putting it through the LCS website?

Has anyone ordered from the website recently and received their order like normal?

It's getting harder to understand what's going on and more likely that Left Coast Supplies is goneburger :-(

This fall they had some good prices on harvester chain and bars advertised on here. Talked back and forth on here and they wanted me to call to put in an order.

I called them 5 or 6 times, left msgs. Never did get to talk to anyone or get a call back.

I got the impression it was pretty much just a 1 man band?

I bought a bunch of stuff from their "stock on hand sale" last summer and that's the last I heard from them.

If you strike out Tony, you can PM me your needs and I'll sort it out.
Thanks very much JJ.

It is my understanding that Lucas and Peterson have been having a legal battle for some time.

LCS may have joined in on the losing side of the lawsuit.

That's quite an old case and while extremely interesting (it is amazing the number of twists and turns over the years), I doubt it's related to the LCS case. But I wonder if there is a public document detailing the latter? Lucas also won a case a few years ago against a Chinese copy-cat manufacturer. That was also very interesting given the lack of discovery in China.

It does appear the recent case between LCS and Lucas has buried the former, unless there's another reason their company was cancelled by a Lucas associate/employee in December? I dunno, but there endith a good source of gear for us on the other side of the planet :-(

From what I can tell, Peterson won the case, but it pretty much bankrupted him in the process. I dont know how this ties in with LCS or if its even related.
