Somebody needs to revive this thread. I just picked up a 7.98 Cube David Bradley, 5G21. My cousin called from an auction and asked how much he should go. I told him $50. He got it for a total of $30.07. He thinks I'm nutz for collecting old saws, but he finds them for me anyway. We are both 4th generation in family owned residential tree services, both retired. I'll get a pic up, I have to go pick it up in the morning.

Lee, I haven't got it in hand yet. We have 6 family members with birthdays in February, and we always go out to a big Chinese dinner at 2 in the afternoon. By the time dinner was over for us, my cousin was at his daughters house for Super Bowl dinner. All I know is he said it had 5G21 on the side, gear drive, and it turned over. I'm dying to go get it, but now I have to wait for a delivery this morning. I sent my 7-29 down to Chris in Australia a couple years ago, and I've never had the chance to play with a big gear drive. I'm gonna try and hold on to this one for a while. I'll get pics up ASAP.

Bummer, my cousin saw the 5g21 on the saw and when I read him the model number he saw the 917 and didn't see the rest. It's one of the little 77CC models, and there is a crack in the gear case cover.

When I got into milling I called my local Husky dealer and asked for a price on a 3120 with 3 bars, 2', 3' 5'. Told him I had cash in pocket. He said he had to order it and it would take 2 weeks to come in. Said he was short handed and would call me the next day with price. Next day he forgot, day after he forgot. Next day I called the local Stihl dealer and he had 2, 880's and 6, 660's on the shelf. Bought a 660. Called the Husky dealer back and he said he was sorry he forgot again. Said never mind, bought a Stihl. I've since dealt with that shop and they were super with service and parts. I guess they were just having a bad week.

Looks good Kevin, how does it run?

Mark
Still working the bugs out Mark but it seems strong, in the process of making a new fuel tank gasket again. I learned my lesson about using hardware store gasket paper. I also have a leak in the carb I need to sort. I think I need to make a new gasket for the fuel filter cover on the bottom. I just rigged up a popoff pressure tester so I can test it before reinstalling it.

Picked up this 6 cube last night. Fires right up, but won't idle, probably just needs adjustment. 30" bar and 3/8 chain. Echo 1001vl

It has probably the stoutest compression of any saw I own, aside from the 090. The decomp is a must.

I thought I read somewhere about the fans exploding on these? Anyone got any other info? I also understand that these are fairly rare, so finding any parts is going to be impossible. Anything I should check before running it more?

I believe Cory (Hoggwood) has one of those that belonged to his Dad. He knows it quite well if you have any questions.
