Yes the box blade does help. I have even added four 65 pound suit case weights to it and that really does help a bunch more.

Yes, I still have 3 of them but they don't get used much anymore. We rebuilt one this winter and plan to do another one next winter. New hoses, rebuilt the pump etc. We use them for lawn rolling and it's a heavy roller.

I think they'd be sweet for poking around in the woods.

Be fun to teach my daughter to use one.

Rob thanks for letting me know about the weight box.

No problem... I bought it an never used it, so it needs to find a new home...

IF I go scouting for a "specific" tree, I may use my 4-wheeler,

But, it will NOT go in two feet of snow, I have to use a tractor when the snow get's deeper. It doesn't help, that our snow is rather heavy, instead of powder...

I guess my 4-wheeler is junk!

If you have a 4 wheeler that will go thru 2 feet of virgin snow it probably has tracks on it.

But then we could ride in style.

Well Al, the guy in post #32 claims his 4-wheeler will go in 2' of snow, I've never owned any 3 or 4-wheeler that would go in 2' of snow, and I've owned ATV's continuously since the ATC90 I bought in about 1970...

I just can't seem to get that spl. one! lol

There is some split wood in there. Lol

My BIL has a bush burro and that thing can sure hold a good size load. He stacks it in ther quite high. This is only season one with it. So far it seems to be built well but little pricey though.

Rob I also call BS on going thru 2' feet of snow. Mine struggled with 10 inches and I was only trying to tow the tobbogon with the kids on it.
Time to break out the snow mobiles.

What make and model ATV would you guys recommend to someone who wants it for both work and play that has limited experience with 4 wheelers?

The only way a atv can go through 2 feet of snow is with a blade on front clearing the way. Lol

You guys are obviously out of the loop on the ATV’s that are available in 2019...Can-Am makes a 1,000 cc , 95 hp monster on giant mud tires that will laugh at 24” a snow.

There’s a whole group of guys around me that have these machines, some even modified for more power and bigger tires that ride the local places and plow right through 3-4 feet of mud!

The pic. is of a bone stock Can-Am XMR.

I'd pick one of the 4wd Yamaha models of 450cc's or bigger...

I've been going with Yamaha because of their really good reliability record and superior belt drive tranny, it really is better.

I use to ride Honda's, but I think they have got too hi-tech and lost some of their reliability...

I'm not interested in having to go 50 MPH to get through anything...

I want something that will pull a load and be able to stop and go, doing so...

I see a guy on You-tube that has Can Ams, a Sherp ect… Sure he goes through the snow, but those Can Ams are more for play than for work.
