At the base it is marked Marle 44zn15. Does the 44 mean it is 44 MM?

when i built my white top 50 with partner 5000 top end, i used the original 44mm piston and just drilled a hole on either side of wrist pin boss on both sides of piston. id be tempted to do that with a 350 piston or something if i had one of these, rather than go lil red barn.

I also once dabbled in 50s with P5000+ cylinders. I kept one but it was stolen after only a few hours of use.
Happily, in those "ancient" times, I had the luxury of new cylinders and pistons, so no drilling required.
I used a 444 carb, air filter & filter holder, and a blue choke lever off a clearing saw, I think.
only real problem was that the inertia brake would self activate at about 13,500rpm due to the brake activating spring resonating at the frequency equated with that speed. Solved it by building the old-style pushrod inertia brake mechanism into the new-style cover & handle.

no issues with chain break on this one haha. 372 carb and boot

Thanks for the replys, I'm still lost however?!>. is it a 44mm or doesn't the marks mean any thing.
Would a husky OEM 44mm piston be impossiable to find?

that could be from a partner, but its not the right muffler and i dont they came with decomps ever. also dont believe the 50 “special” cylinders had decomps either, which is what made me think is was the closed port 55
 
I was told the cylinder is off a 55EPA sold about 97 or 98.

Will need to look up a metric to Sae measurement then get back to you.

this is for a 281, 52mm,but the base says 54, only to show that the number on the base is not ALWAYS the exact bore.

Asked as respectively as possible, have you measured the bore? :eek:
It's just that I have a sneaking suspicion that your 281 cylinder might in fact be a 54mm 288 cylinder.
