I had saved this post from Hotshot some time ago. I know zip about those oilers.

306A oiler trouble shoot

First post here, but the small steel cam gets driven from the shaft by the
"crush" when you tighten the clutch assembly down against the cam, or in
other words it is stacked in there like a washer being pressed against the
crankshaft journal.

What a great engineering design, with the brass gear reducer cammed in a
roughly a 19 to 1 ratio. There are 19 teeth on the brass driver, and 20
teeth in the stator. Note that one of the gear tooth pockets on the outer
gear is always empty. The face of the brass driver gear has a short cam
cast into it too, that the cross piece button rides on.

One turn is made to stroke the plunger for every 19 rotations of the engine, or
about 5 short plunger strokes per second at 6000 RPM. Looks like the designer
must have played with his kids Spirograph drawing set back in the 70's, if you
remember those.

Anyway, you probably have a quad ring rubber seal that is simply worn
out, it goes around the plunger pin that is actuated by the cross shaped
piece that is driven by the face of the brass gear. You have to dig it out of
the bore with a dental pick, at least most of the time you do.

There is pair of check valves in that system, one right at the bar slot opening (which is fine as your manual oiler is working), and
then one at the top of the tank pick up tube. I'm assuming that the oil finder/screen in the tank is not clogged with debris,
as again your manual oiler is working.
Thanks Tim. A starting place.

245 question. So I pull the clutch to convert from the barracuda chain to 3/8 and find a 9 pin 325 rim. I don't think this saw was messed with and think it might be the original rim. A 3/8 8 pin is the exact same size as the 325 9. 7 pin is much smaller. What is supposed to be on the saw for 3/8 7 or 8? Thanks.

The stock drive is 3/8-7. Oregon did make a rim/drum setup, but it has been discontinued. If you can find one NOS, grab it.

Haven't paid much attention to this thread lately...(passed few years) and haven't seen many post from the others I'm used to. Like modifiedmark, Ohio Gregg, fatguy and Mike to name a few. Does anyone know about them or has anyone communicated with them lately?

Anyhoo,, I picked up a clean Dayton 21" 4.0 CI auto oiler model # 2z462a at a auction with a bunch of other saws each purchased individually and mostly poulan. I know it's a Wright 141A based on a poulan saw but it's not a 361 at 3.6 CI and no auto oiler. What model of poulan is it?

Your first question, I miss seeing them on here also, haven't heard much. Was told MMark has been busy.

Thanks. I put the 7 on. Mine is the 245sa which came with rim set up and roller nose bar. I have the rims to change pitch. I was just surprised to see a .325 9 pin rim. The 245 is a low rpm saw with loads or torque. I'll see how it does with the 7 the try the 8 for comparison. It will only take me 5 min to flip them. Maybe a vid down the road. Still have to do some stuff on the saw to get it tip top shape.

Great group of guys. Been on here since 2008 and have met these guys a couple of times at the Poulan lover's GTG's that Gregg had a couple of times.

eBay my friend, D007 or 176 bars
You may need to use an S clip with some of the 3/8” bar mounts

300 length ,rnd front end, d176 tail end. So you have 300rndd176. 30 inch bar, that's all I know about them.

These series take the D176 bar mount same as the Echo but at this lenght (32") you're gonna pay a small fortune.Husky large mount,D009 can be fitted to the 4400 with an S clip( you can make one quite easy from a windshield wiper blade and a torch). Here is one bar you can try:https://www.ebay.com/itm/Oregon-320...ge-32-Power-Match-Chain-Saw-Bar-/400628158678

First two numbers are for the lentgh of the bar,the third number is the gauge(0 for .050,8 for .058,3 for .063 etc),RND its for the nose type ( for this bar is replaceable nose,3/8 with 11 tooth sprocket and the last 3 are the bar mount.
Clear as mud?
Thanks for the guidance guys. What I was hoping for was a guide that shows what the tail mount patterns actually look like with measurements, etc. No kidding about how expensive/hard to find the D176 tail mount bar are!

I've not been able to find any information on the 'D6' bar which came with the saw when I bought it. I ended up using a step drill bit to enlarge the two small holes one size up (see attached photo) in order to get the tensioner to be able to work. I know it's a hack, but I'm wondering if

Ran my 4900 today for the first time today, it did ok, I filed the rakers a little much so the chain was biting in a bit

kelchm , I don't think that the D6 on your bar has anything to do with the mount identification .
Looking at your picture it looks like a K095 mount bar .
If you call Oregon customer service at 1-800-223-5168 they can answer your questions .
