The Husky is a couple hundred cheaper. I hear that C85 chain makes a big difference.

Which one do you think would be better for milking?

I have a 461 and like it a lot but either saw will do you well. You really can’t go wrong with either. If I were to buy a new saw today it would be the ms462. It costs more but it has probably one of the best , if not best power to weight ratios on the market. 70cc power with 60cc weight. It’ll pull up to a 28 inch bar well. With a 20 and a 28 there is a lot of things you can do with just the one saw.

Did you mean milling instead of milking? I have no experience with a chainsaw mill, but I’d have to expect the 572 to be superior with the better air filter and longer stroke.

Either one is a fine choice to run a 24/25, 28 or 32 in general forestry work. Throw on the big dawgs and let them eat. I really like both saws, but I own 441/461s because of dealer support in my area. That would probably be the tipping point. Oh, and Stihl bars & chain are better than anything you can get for a Husqvarna saw now that GB & Windsor are out of the U.S market or bought out in the case of Windsor. I ran Stihl chain when I was running Husqvarna saws.

Between the 462 & 572 it’s an easy choice for me. I’m no 462 fan. It feels very Euro (not strictly a bad thing) & like long bars were not considered it its design. The 572 seems like it will be a tree killing machine that’s overbuilt & can handle maybe a 3 footer in softwood. The 462 I ran seemed like it didn’t like having much more than 20” of bar in the wood. It didn’t balance very well with a 28 either.

If you want a saw for milling, go as big as possible. It take a lot of saw, more than I would ever expect.

I wouldn’t go Auto tune if possible. Thicker oiler ratios recommended for milling can affect the computerized system depending on which oil you use.

Do you want lightweight or torque? Do you like cheap feeling plastic? Your money, your choice. Both will cut and time will tell which is a better saw. But, I purchased a 572, so my opinion is skewed.

+3 on the 572xp
