I am looking at buying a Stihl MS201T saw, can anyone here check the serial number to make sure of it's date. I doubt the warranty is left but I just wanted to make sure before buying it. Thank you

The warranty would start at the date of purchase not the date of manufacture. Unless I'm wrong Stihl only has a 30 day warranty so unless it's brand new the warranty is probably gone.

I'm also looking into a source for serial number detection. I buy a dozen saws a month on eBay. Is there a site where I can check the serial # to assure its not someone's stolen saw?

While we are discussing 200T's, how does anyone determine IF a lesser TH saw is turned into a 200, given the astronomical values the 200's demand? IE: How do I know if a seller has taken a 192, and simply re-badged it a 201?? Aren't these saws all the same, on the outside? If a saw is missing the white label, and the re-coil badge looks new, can it be an old 192??

I believe the 192t has the bar oil reservoir above the gas tank. The 201tcm or at least mine has bar oil towards the bar and gas at the rear of the saw. Also I believe could be totally wrong though that the 192 has adjustable carbs where the newer 201 are mtronic. That might be a good starting point but I could totally be wrong also. Just my .02
