what has been your local dump, free pick up trash finds for power equipment?

We found a Poulan wild thing at the recycle center that actually ran when we put gas in it.

What throw always have you found?

Free poulan straight shaft weed eater that just needed a 12 dollar carb kit.

Stihl MS211, Stihl MS170, Stihl FS80, Stihl BG65, Mantis tiller, McCulloch EM250-14, Several Poulan/Craftsman top handle, Remington ?, and several of the Poulan Wild Thing type saws, Lots of the cheaper Ryobi & Weedeater string trimmers and several others that I can't remember.
I've worked at the local transfer station for 6 years so I get first dibs on this stuff. 90% of all the above were run with E-gas or neglected and all they needed was fuel lines & carb rebuild/replace. I've kept a few of the choice ones, the rest I've given away to friends/neighbors
Amazing what people throw away these days.
This does not take account of the dozens and dozens of lawn mowers push& rider, that have come through. The majority of those get put in the steel recycle roll off.

There has to be more dump finds?

How about the free stuff we get given to us? Come on?

My uncle would come home with more stuff from the dump than he took. He got a gear driven mcculloch onetime and it ran.

Last year I picked up a Poulan Wild Thing from a friend that ran perfectly after a simple clean up. I passed it on to a homeowner who has already used it several times for pruning trees.

This year a tree trimming company owner gave me a non-running Stihl MS 290 with a straight-gassed top end. I upgraded that to a 390 top end, added an outside bumper spike, and it now runs perfectly. Another company owner says he wants to buy it immediately because his 290 is beaten to a pulp.

I have been given two non-running Stihl 034 AV's that I upgraded to 036's. Both now run perfectly, so I sold one to a friend and kept the other.

Poulan Pro 4218 AVX this past week from the dump. Along with many push mowers and weed trimmers. Never anything major, just a cleaning or fresh gas. The most i put into any of them was a primer bulb.

I have a Craftsman 4218 in a case that I seldom use, and it runs fine today. I list it in my signature as a Poulan. Five years ago I found it with a broken pull cord in the basement of a deserted house. I replaced that and noticed that the spark plug was loose, not even thumb tight. I tightened the plug, added fuel, and it started on the third pull. I guess the original owner snapped the cord trying to start it with a loose plug and left it with the house in disgust.

A guy dropped off two 128LD husky trimmers that were going to be scrapped. They were in pieces. Had to buy a carb ($13) and replace fuel lines on both and they run fine, good compression and no vac leaks. Also had to buy a couple exterior parts for one. Probably have $60 between the two.

Dollar 133, 120, poulan s6000, running ms180, almost mint scored Husqvarna 61, running 020t, 455 rancher, jred 2077, Husqvarna 51 and 55. Piles of bars, new roll of Oregon chain. The saws aren’t anything compared to greenlee, Ridgid, core bore, Miller welders and hand tools that come in from container service at big industry. Some good skip tooth bicycles. The best find was the Ridgid 300 that needed about $100 for get it ready to work.

My husky 181 was a free saw someone brought to get fixed. Gave him the price for parts and he said keep it. Think it was only couple hundred or so to get goin. Anti vibe bushings and the two part coil.
It could use a new handle bar but got this one sort of bent back close.

When I purchased the new house the po left a Poulan chainsaw on the garage floor it needs a recoil spring. I haven’t fixed it yet.
Living in the more rural farm area there’s rollers for rope to hang deer in the garage. We don’t see that everyday. Country people are good people.

My husqvarna 266xp. My fathers work was going.to dumpster it because it wouldnt start. He snatched it up and gave it to me. After a thorough cleaning and a $10 carb kit it's one of my best saws. Had a barely used 18" b&c on it too. I now have a 24" on it.

I'm liking that geardrive Mac.

After watching buckin billy Ray Smith on you tube with his old macs he got my interest in older saws.
I prefer my 850 to my ported 390xp if that says anything. A 125 is a way better large saw than a 3120 IMHO. I do have to say I prefer a ported 372 to a 700, but a stock 372, no, I like the 700 better for firewood. And if you ever get to run a long bar (50+ inch) in big wood on a 101, 895, or 797g, you quickly realize that stock .404 is akin to running 1/4" on a 372. Those extra special Mac's require a large tooth and very low rakers in order to clear chips. No big Stihl has that kind of demand. Not my ported 088, ported 090av, or ported 090g. Yellow fever is very real, and for good reason. Enjoy the infection.

I've got a Homelite XP1100 gear drive with the 2:1 gear set, I'm going to run .404, on a 42" or 60" bar how far would you recommend taking down the rakers? I mill with a 090 and I have the rakers down .035" to make it self feed.
