72018917-A0F0-4EBE-8E65-262FF37EC76D.jpeg i have searched google and here, and I cannot figure out what is supposed to fit in here.

Yes I need to know :)

It clearly has notches to hold a tool of some sort, so it is not structural molding for the case...
Someone has to have seen some kind of tool that fits??

There is an identical recess for it on the opposite side. The rear of the case has a recess for something similar but no notches to hold it. Maybe when you fold the case out flat you can put the tool in this slot to help hold the saw or something in some way for repair??

i doubt anything is supposed to go in there, looks like theres a similar molding on the back side as well. probably just for weight savings/rigidity.

Front of the case? Husqvarna? I'm thinking part of it is recess for some odd saw (they want to make it work with all of them), combined with some of the rigidity stuff that @cus_deluxe suggested. So the shape does not have to match a tool, but maybe part of it provides clearance for part of a saw.

These moldings vary with different brands of blow molded cases.

Only because I saw this thread and I was wandering through some husqvarna parts.

That cross would likely be for heat distribution in the thermo molding, however, the other part of that shape also seems to resemble the oil pump assembly for some of the older saws.

This is for the 340-353.
