Thanks mate its the thought that counts it probably just needs a clean out I have had it out and put a new disk in it from mark and was pumping great but after sitting a month or two it's got sad and now ive turned it up all the way but still sad. I have put some diesel in the oil so will see how it goes on sunday.

Messy bloody trees but good fun the whole thing and about 4 others not quite as big have been processed with old macs mainly maybe 10 percent with a small husky if that. Most limbing is done with 1 of 3 70cc macs. Oh and a poulan 4000 too.

Climbed this 1 about 5 meters with a 7-10 lol some of those are 16 to 20 inch lol.

Really enjoy cutting wood I'm working 65 hours a week lately most of saterday then all day Sunday have been cutting for a day of rest and relaxation lol
Those are sure some wolfy trees you've got yourself there.
 
I did a little more investigation on Kevin's 7-10 just before boxing it up to send back...IPL says the early models should have piston 69030 and later ones (including some with the lever type compression release) use 85239.

I don't have any 69030 on hand but I do have a 69031 which is the 0.020" oversize piston indicating the early models were a steel/cast iron sleeve. There are some slight differences in the piston skirts between the 69030/31 and 85239. The 69030/31 skirts have squared off corners and the 85239 skirts are coped off.

I expect it would take a close inspection of the porting on both early and late model to see if the small differences in the piston skirts would be enough to effect the way it idles?

Thick rings, top one is chrome plated for the sleeve saws, definitely differences in the pistons.

Kevin, try to fine that original piston and let's have a closer look.

What was wrong with it in the first place? Looks perfectly usable unless I'm missing something obvious (or subtle). The big question is if it is the original piston or if it replaced a 69030..., (or 69412) possibly in a cylinder with slightly different porting..., perhaps a 6-10 in 7-10 clothing.
 
It had this defect which is why I'm still theorizing a bent rod. Not sure if someone stuck something in there at some point to stop the motor from turning or what. Maybe something got ingested idk. No other apparent damage.

Once again off topic.. Been trying to work on my collection of saws with the extreme limited amount of time I have....
But does anyone have a quick and easy way to remove the Oil Pick Up line from a PM-1010? The one side is tapered to seat in the designated area on top of the oil tank housing and the other side has the bigger end with the oil screen in it. Any tips on removing this and installing this into another short block? Still trying to put the 57CC NOS short block from Bob Johnson together with the parts from my severely scored PM10-10. Maybe I'm just not seeing the obvious but I definitely can't pull the large side with the screen insert through that tiny hole. I've tried digging through arboristsite threads and other forum posts, as well as YouTube and came up with nothing of useful information in regards to installing or removing this line. I would like to think I could pull it through the tapered end through the small hole but I don't want to take any chances of tearing it.

3 year old trying his best to hold a 10-10 but not quite yet

Soo any way he likes to rev saws while I let him and hold it safely on the ground well this time we cut a couple cookies with him and me holding it together and him on the throttle. Air muffs and safety glasses on of course and thumb resting on the kill switch. The look of him afterwards was priceless covered in chips lol just don't tell his mother please hahaha
