Earlier this year, (April or May I think) I had wanted a MS241C, and so I asked the local dealer about it. She couldn't find anything about that saw on their sales site.

Fast forward to July 15, 2019, I was in another dealer getting parts, and was wandering around the saws section when the sales guy approached asking if I wanted something. I decided to be a smart ass, and told him I was interested in a MS241c. So, he goes off to his computer, and looks, and there it is for 709 Kanukistanese Kopecks.

I had thought that the MS241C wasn't available any longer in North America. Apparently, I was wrong. The sales guy asked if I wanted the arctic version as well. So, I wonder if there's a VW version of the saw now.

I'm glad I managed to find a lightly used one. I was disappointed with the one I got till I changed the chain from whatever chain was on there (no brand stamps that I can find) to a half used Stihl chain that I had been using on a MS170. That really woke up the cutting ability...

I was wondering about cutting the depth gauges a little bit deeper on that chain to see if it cuts faster.... As I have an almost used chain sitting around, I don't think I'll mind if it doesn't work. Right now, all the chains I have for that saw are sharpened with a 2 in 1 file.

I avoid cowtown these days as much as I can. That shop is kinda easy to get into, not so easy to get out of. My general store for Stihl was Arman in Vulcan until the parts girl quit. She was excellent. These days it's Lethbridge Honda. I'm almost exactly between Calgary and Lethbridge. Stuff is cheaper in Lethbridge because they don't have the insane business property taxes Calgary has. So, if Lethbridge has it, I go there first.

I can drive across the entire city of Lethbridge in rush hour in 20 minutes. Try that in calgary.

Is this 241 anything like the 231? Been working on one, but runs a 325 050 16”but could take the next gauge up due to hammer fisting with rocked out chain.
Anyway, what I’m asking is what’s the fastest chain I can get for this Barbie saw? Anybody got a model number so as to get said girlie saw to get up and talk?

Completely different saws. Same family as the 211 and 251. 241 is similar to the 261.

You looking to run Stihl or Oregon parts/chain? The drive sprocket or rim would need to be for 3/8"Picco, bar as well if it has a sprocket tip. We are running Picco on the 241 and its a zippy lil bugger.

The ms241 ain’t to far behind the likes of an oe 346xp if you ask me. It handles .325 15” ok. But is a great wee saw with picco. I had a 14” picco on mine I think.

Then I'd go with a 16" picco bar in 50 gauge.

After the rim kit you need 56 drivers on a 16" stihl bar. 55 works with some aftermarket bars.

I think I’ll stay with the 325 for now since it’s not my saw but I’ll let the lumberjill know about the picco
