So I came across this chart on another site. Full credit to them. But it is incredibly helpful in figuring out saw model.

Mine has Thyristor style ignition, 48mm bore/ 65cc. So it would narrow it down to a R421t(heated handles) or R420T, or F65. Since it has an R420 top cover and non heated handles I'm fairly confident saying R420T.
This is definitely being added to the info book for sure.

Question maybe someone can answer. I have two 5000s....
....The one that vents into the crankcase is giving me a hell of a time to run. When I opened the fuel cap to check fuel, fuel went everywhere like the tank was pressurized. So I'm wondering if it is plugged.

Leafing through the old Partner service binder, I found this. Sadly, no pictures.

That's quite interesting. As soon as this saw warms up it will not start again. That almost describes it to a T.

Since the link was partly blocked, I will PM you the location I found it. It is a chainsaw collectors forum with a lot of great info. Makes it easy to identify those mystery saws if you have a bit of information.

What is the difference between the RIFA and Ignitron ignition styles? One of my 5000s had Ignitron on the recoil housing but had a module with RIFA underneath the carb. I had thought it was the same.

Honestly I don't know the brand of ignition. There was a husky 55 ignition on Amazon with prime shipping for $15 bucks and I just grabbed that. Just for ease of purchase.

That table was posted earlier in this thread as well. I only know that because I read all 100+ pages last week. Don't ask me where it was though! :)
 
First missing part made. Tool steel, tempered back to about 55Rc hardness. Originals were probably case hardened but the one I've got is right about that surface hardness. I made this at home with a grinder, a file, belt sander, a propane torch and an oven for tempering. Luckily had some ⅛" thick O-1 lying around.

The chart clarifies compatibility but I think whoever compiled this was themselves confused about the names. (@larry Isaac if you're reading this.)

Found a 1982 bulletin that introduces ignition 506 01 00-01 as "Electrolux RIFA".
I started with Partner in 1983, by then we only knew them as "EMAB" but that was probably after the guys at PPP published the chart. \EDIT.

What PPP (that's Pioneer/Partner,Peterborough) call "RIFA", I would call "EMAB", being the Electrolux manufactured one-piece unit "506 01 00-01" introduced in the early '80s.
What they call "IGNITRON" is a coil with a separate RIFA trigger module "325536" in place of contact-breaker points.
The "THYRISTOR" details are probably correct.

Re RIFA. It's an acronym of Radioindustrins Fabrik Aktiebolag (Radio Industry Factory Limited), an independent Swedish Electronic component manufacturing company up until the late '80s when it became Ericsson Components.

My 5000 originally had the coil + 325536 module. I kept both of them, and have been looking for a module, just in case I can put it back together properly.

Speaking of service binders. Mine arrived today. This is just a few snaps of some of the stuff inside. A few service manuals for what must have been the mainstays back then. I was really happy to find some "pure Partner" stuff tucked away in the back. Service bulletins starting in 1980. Warranty policies and procedures and parts and tool lists. Pretty cool! I've never seen a Partner shop manual. I guess they were really keen to disseminate the Partner "knowledge" to the Pioneer faithful.
 
I’m itchen to work on my partner R12. I’d like to tune it up with new parts but do you think I should pull the head and cylinder to decarbonize it? She’s a looker when I give her a bath I’ll post pics. She’s naked and dirty the way I like them.

I picked up an older partner I think it’s a 50 cc saw with a metal not plastic engine cover how old is that?

With all the partner history these aren’t sought after yet.?
