Hello Gents,

Its come time to replace my workhorse with a new piston and cylinder... any feedback on Meteor packages vs. OEM? I have not had much experience with Meteor aftermarket. Keep in mind this is my daily saw... I am using my 461 right now but would like my Husky back in action.

Any other suggestions?

Cheers

The cylinders are pretty tough. Are you sure its worn out? May only need a ring, or perhaps a piston, also

Meteor pistons are spot on. The cylinders are good quality in respect materials and plating but I think the timing and subsequently the power is not up there with OEM.

Photos is piston. Two front one rear.... I’ll send the jig photos in a couple secs.

In case your wondering .... slight leaking Intake boots. Didn’t notice it until it was too late. I’m not happy about it. I’m thinking I may get away with new ring and new piston? Thoughts on the jug? Photos coming

The aluminum transfer on the cylinder needs to be completely removed. Sandpaper by hand or on a split mandrel in a Dremel. I also use muriatic acid on a qtip to eat the aluminum off, but yours is pretty mild and could be done by sanding. And then a new meteor piston and ring

More photos of the piston removed. The ring FREELY moves over the pin. 130$CAN I ordered a new OEM. piston and ring.

Can this piston be salvaged?? Thoughts?

100% agree. Nothing beats OEM, but Meteor is dang close. Excellent quality.
Smooth out the casting marks in the intake and exhaust ports, then blend the transfers a bit. You'll be happy.
But realize it'll take a few tanks for the ring to seat, so power will be a bit down. But it'll wake up and scream just like you remember.
