I will have to get out my book "Chainsaws A history" by David Lee, and read it again. I know it talks about Chainsaw Makers being bought out and changing hands. It's a nice book and very informative. I do wish it had more pictures of the makers complete model lines.

You may be right. I am no expert. When I bought my Poulan pro 505 I needed parts and could not find any of the part numbers from Poulan. A mechanic at a Stihl and Husqvarna dealer told me that the 505 was a Jonsered 2083 and all parts would interchange. He was right about the parts interchange because I got a Jonsered 2083 IPL and ordered the parts I needed. Thay were an exact fit everything except the clutch cover. The jonsered cover was magnesium and red, the Poulan one was yellow plastic. I just thought that the Poulan was a cheaper model Jonsered. Even if I am wrong, This time period of saws was owned by Electrolux and still is to this day I believe.

Your lucky you found a 2083 magnesium clutch cover because a lot of them were plastic just like the Poulans. I do know that there were few and far between yellow clutch covers made for the 505 in mag. Heck I might even have one now that I think about. A lot of saws I have not looked at for awhile.

Jacob’s saw of many colors!

Did you your Dad give that to you?, lol

Sorry but no. That is my milling saw. I put a MS660 piston in it and finger ported it.
Here is a few saws of the models we are talking about.

What kind of baby snake is this?

This isn't what was at the house recently, this one was from last year but close but not the same.

Dont know but with its head shape looks like a poisenous viper.

Well it's head wasn't arrow shaped til the hill of my boot popped it. Don't care for a snake in the house. Figured it came in that day when I had the door open doing some work, going in and out the house.

I have had and have mag clutch covers in yellow and red.

Yes Roger you do have one of these too. ;)

Would you be willing to part with one of those yellow mag covers? I would much rather have a yellow mag one than the plastic yellow one. My 505 came with the plastic and the West Coast dog and handle setup. The plastic cover is developing a crack where the outside dog is attached. I bought a mag red Jonsered one and then decided against using it because it made the saw look like a frankinsaw.poulanpro505upgraded 009.JPG I can't seem to find the red mag one now, it's probably in the shed at the bottom of a pile of parts boxes.

I had 3 NOS and 1 used in metal. Only have 1 NOS and 1 used metal in yellow left.

Right now I am holding onto those for my needs, just in case. IMO just paint your red metal one the matching yellow.

I seen a pic of this yellow metal one painted red. Saved a pic and info of it on my website. http://chainsawrepair.createaforum....-cover-445-425-505-415-475/msg76795/#msg76795

I have painted them orange, purple and lime green myself.

My 505 445 full wraps I did. Also in half wrap too.
