Make sure you don’t have .325 sprockets on there as well.

They are both 50cc saws I believe. Most 50cc don’t come with standard 3/8 chain from the factory. I’ve boogered good chains that way in a moment of haste myself.
I agree that one may have a 325 sprocket.
Both those saws are typically set up with 3/8x72dl from the dealer.
With outboard clutches you put the chain on first and spin it a bit to check the fit, you can feel it if its wrong and your paying attention. Many times people dont even know there is a difference, when I first started cutting I had some problems with narrow kerf chains, all the numbers were right lol.

Bout time. :buttkick:Hope you can help out. Looks like sprocket trouble ruined some decent chain.
Sent a PM, easy enough to fix/replace parts, I can even get a deal on some new stihl chains to replace those.
i can believe the sharpening part. all i cut is stuff thats come down in a storm. ill sharpen them and then run them until it starts cutting slow or pulling to the side. ill take a look into the RMC blades though. ive had the greens and hate them. ive ran the yellows and the greens through my sharpener, and the greens cut half the speed as the yellows. im just standing there making sawdust with them, where the yellows are throwing out huge chunks.
Did you get my PM. If you need a hand it would be no problem to change the sprocket and inspect everything else. I have some new Oregon chains here as well as lots of used ones and I can get those stihl chains replaced for a little more than what most places charge to sharpen them(I'm going by the place today).
I sent you a PM.

Ya from some of the pics it looked like the chain was being driven by a half broken rim sprocket and the clutch drum splines. The splines look like there worn too, hopefully there is enough meat on them to drive a new rim sprocket. That's pretty poor to have left a service dept in that condition lol. I think a new drum, some spare new rims, new blades and possible bar may be needed to properly restore to a quality saw. You need to check your rim sprockets for wear every so often and try to put new chains on new sprockets so they wear together. Well good you know what up now and have a path back to cutting wood again. That saw should be named the 'Blade-runner'.

My own best guess- 050 chains and bars fitted to powerheads that still have the original 058 drive sprockets that have never been removed, clutch bearings never greased, or clutch replaced.........
No such thing as a .058 sprocket. .043,.050.058, and .063 are the gauge of the bar/chain or how wide the slot on the bar is and drive links on the chain are. 3/8”lp, 3/8”, .325, .404 is the chain pitch which the sprocket on the saw and bar tip must match the pitch of the chain.

I thought he meant a sprocket previously used with a .058 chain but I'm not sure that would make a difference anyway unless it was really worn.

Yep, that is what I meant, the bar and chain are 050 so suited to each other, the original drive sprockets are likely to be exactly that- original (both saws if 3/8 came out with 058 gauge bars) and never replaced or renewed, so worn to bu&&ery.

Did you get it taken care of.
What did you get done so far.

That is a sharpening problem. I find it funny when people say green chains cut so much slower than yellow. The only difference is the raised hump next to the raker.

Its not all like this
